PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - January 2016
Happy new year everyone!
The private operators observation thread has now been combined with the PTA / Transperth observations thread due to low usage.
Friendly reminder of the simple rules for this thread:
•Observations posted should be related to sightings of unusual, unrecorded and interesting occurrences such as buses out of their normal operating area or on routes that are unusual to be seen on.
•Refrain from speculating, posting rumours or making uneducated assumptions. If any posts contain assumptions or opinions which cannot be 100% confirmed as fact, please clearly state this in your post.
•For PTA / Transperth related observations, observations related to the actual bus such as fleet presentation (destination displays, advertising, bus defects/damage etc.) should not be posted in this thread, but rather be directed to the Transperth InfoLine for follow up.
Posts not contributing positively to this thread may be edited/removed. As always, feel free to contact a WA moderator with any feedback for this section of the forum.
Hope everyone has a good year ahead!

It's not the first time. It was doing it yesterday too (and I've heard sightings of the B8s on it in the past). They operate the supplementary services (West Perth to Perth Station), not the actual CAT services. These operate between 3pm and 4pm on weekdays using a mix of artics and rigids from Palmyra depot. Sounds like a shuttle service and that other bus operator are also operating the Central Area Transit (such as Path Transit and Transdev of course). Will Transdev (Operator of the Central Area Transit Perth) provide artic's in the future?
That picture was taken at the PMH,isn't it?
And with the buses, they don't have what CAT buses had done, such as:
1.Announcements.
2.Ticketing and Smartrider system should be disabled when operating any CAT service.
3.And entry restrictions as they should have an LED system to show whatever you are allowed to enter the bus at any door or not.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - January 2016
It's not a shuttle service - it's more like 'double banking' (where a bus follows another bus along the same route at the same time), and no, Path and Swan will not be running any CAT services in the foreseeable future. Plus, Transdev Claisebrook cannot get the required amount of artics into the depot, if it was a 1-for-1 replacement.
Yes, it was taken opposite PMH.
The extra buses that Transdev provide for the CAT's don't have the Announcement equipment, as those buses aren't used of those extra services everyday, plus the cost of retrofitting them makes it pointless. The smartrider scanners are not activated when doing a CAT route, however the ticket machine is always on for driver assistance. The extra buses, can allow all door boarding.
Cheers!

New deliveries/registrations for the new year commenced today with 2299 for Transdev which now completes the 22xx series, 2517 for Swan and 3056 (uncertain of operator).
1372 has also been de-registered today following its write off from fire damage.

TP3001 has a UWA AOA,it's been about 2 years since that AOA was fitted. Also saw TP2377 at the Esplande Busport doing a 380,but has no luggage racks unlike other buses despite it has the airport bus livery and TP1641 has a mirror problem, causing the driver to get off and fix it.

1372 wasn't deregistered after getting written off in August for some reason, it was deregistered on 1-1-16 as the registration did expiresylar wrote:New deliveries/registrations for the new year commenced today with 2299 for Transdev which now completes the 22xx series, 2517 for Swan and 3056 (uncertain of operator).

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - January 2016
Now that the 22xx series have been completed, will Palmyra, Rockingham and Mandurah get the 26xx series or will all of them go to Joondalup?
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - January 2016
Yep all the future Transdev rigid deliveries will be number in the 26xx range. Joondalup's current highest bus is 2606 whilst the next one scheduled rigid deliveries up here are 2612/13.Shoudy Chen wrote:Now that the 22xx series have been completed, will Palmyra, Rockingham and Mandurah get the 26xx series or will all of them go to Joondalup?
1082, 1083 and 1129 left Joondalup in the week and went into storage in the rear compound at Canning Vale.
1046 is withdrawn too, whilst 1052 hangs on.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - January 2016
I think i just spotted TP2460 which has no airport livery and was doing the 380,also there were buses with and without the airport livery doing the 380.
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - January 2016
It wouldn't have been 2460 as Swan Transit do not run the 380 route, it probably was 2360 which is a Path Transit bus. Its not unusual to see non-airport livery buses running the 380 as one of the dedicated buses with the airport livery being 2377 - 2380 could have been off the road for what ever reason.Zidanehartono wrote:I think i just spotted TP2460 which has no airport livery and was doing the 380,also there were buses with and without the airport livery doing the 380.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - January 2016
They go back to depot during the day for refuelling and crew change, so it's not uncommon to see non-airport buses on the 380 during that small period of time that they are not in service. Plus yes, maintenance requirements etc would also require them off the road every so often too.

Ok,boarded TP1494 today and just saw something weird at the rear of the bus.The actual Volgren and B7R badge was not placed instead it was an old volgren logo and an unbadge B7R (painted).
Why?
Why?

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - January 2016
Actually it's 2377-2380 that are Airport Buses run under Path Transit, NOT 2277-2280. 2277-2280 are Transdev Buses.sylar wrote:It wouldn't have been 2460 as Swan Transit do not run the 380 route, it probably was 2360 which is a Path Transit bus.
