Bus Driver Job Perth

Postby JRoberts » Fri Feb 24, 2012 4:16 am

I am considering moving to Perth and getting a bus driving job.

1. Which of the three bus companies are best to work for in respect to pay and conditions.
2. Is there any difference in pay rates, penalties and how much overtime you can work?
3. What's the traffic like to drive in all day.
4. Are the run times easily sufficient to run to time or are you chasing your tail all day?
5. Is it easy to get a job?
6. How much training do you get?
7. Outside of pay which company is best to work for?

Sorry for so many questions. Any help would be appreciated. I know very little about Perth.

Whilst talking about jobs driving in and around Perth, what are the pay rates per hour like?

The full time swan transit rate is now $28.20 an hour the casual rate is $32.70

I would suggest any company but swan transit. Here is a link to get an idea of what your boss at swan transit thinks of his workers.

It's disappointing to see another thread has been hi-jacked by the TWU brigade on here who only appear to post in certain threads.

"The TWU rates Swan Transit as the worst of the three bus firms to work for."

JRoberts and OxfordChris, please take note that this is TWU's opinion only, before you form your own opinion talk to some of the driver's out there and I think you'll find who are the happier employees.

For a company that Transperth seems so against and keen to trash I do find it amusing that his/her avatar features Swan buses parked in the yard at Southern River which is a Swan depot funnily enough.

And has this thread has raised objections from members it's also being locked before it's develops into a TWU thread for certain members to voice their opinions on which isn't welcome on a transport enthusiast forum.
