under a week until the mandurah train line opens

Postby Merc_Benz_0305G » Tue Dec 18, 2007 9:42 pm

On sunday the 23rd December the mandurah line opens (Finally) the timetables say all routes will run as normal but theres still some questions left unanswered such as

Will the 866/867 run that day?

Will the ex westrail coaches still run on transperth routes or be disposed of?

Why are the rail replacement routes running from perth to mandurah would it be a good idea of running a perth- canning bridge- murdoch- bullcreek rail replacement bus, a perth- cockburn central- kwinana- wellard rail replacement bus then a perth-rockingham- warnbro bus then a straighthrough perth to mandurah bus

the shuttle bus thats running in mandurah is that an ex Cat bus?

wat else is going on in the life of the mandurah train line?

866/867 will run as normal on Sunday. Sunday is their last day. Monday they are gone. No 866/867 on Monday.

From what I understand the "Mandurah CAT" is an ex Perth CAT bus that the City of Mandurah bought.

They may get some Rail Replacement busses to terminate at Cockburn Central as this is an extention of the Whitford's bus. But for the other services, they can just use the Kwinana Freeway & Ennis Avenue. It will just take a bit longer then the old 867.

Another from what I understand most of the coaches are being sold off. Transperth may keep a few, but most of them are quite old & it would be better to sell them.

Weirdly enough the 866 & 867 will run (as pointed out by Ade). This is so that you can take the train up to the city & the bus back. Then on Monday 24rd of December, the new nework comes into effect.

The new busway has mostly been opened up & busses are starting to use it to get onto Council Ave (rather then wait ages at the other intersection. All the new stop info has been put up in the Fremantle area & most have put up everywhere else & yes they have been vandalised.

Perhaps this is because regular train service doesn't start until the 24th.
