Not in the market for a motorhome but I read your website and I'd have to say I'm very impressed with your fitout! It seems like you've thought of everything. I'd be happy to pay $350k for it.

Just out of interest what kind of fuel consumption do you get out of it? Does using solar power reduce it at all?

Hi chuboy,

Thanks for the complements.

Over the past two years we have averaged 2.5 to 2.6 kilometres per litre towing the trailer and including the bit of fuel that we use for the generator. This is not bad considering the size and weight of the rig.

Using solar power doesn’t affect the fuel consumption at all. We have a large capacity in batteries so we can wait for the sun to shine again. Only running a generator or needing to use the alternator uses diesel and we can normally avoid that with our system.

The bus is a Volvo B10M with Volgren QLD Body C45. It was owned by AAT Kings, Mascot when it was new. It was fitted out as a motorhome by Bus & RV Modifications in Caloundra QLD in 2004.

We are continuing to travel and live in it even though it is for sale. It makes a great home and drives very well. We are doing whatever maintenance is required and keeping it spik-n-span as we go.

When we were in Melbourne earlier this year, we replaced the ‘House’ batteries with 16 Trojan 6-volt deep-cycle T-125 providing 960Ah at 24 volts (20 hour rate) and fitted with a Flow-Rite on-board battery watering system to make maintenance easy.

We have just put a new set of Continental tyres on. So far they seem good and run very quietly. We went for regional tyres because of their good tread depth and better traction long-haul versions. The actual tyres are Continental HDR1 11R22.5 on the drive and HSR2 295/80R22.5 on the Steer. We moved our old steer tyres to the drive as they still had about 80% trad on them.

We have also reduced the price since the post above. It is now $325,000 including the trailer. For further details, contact us on (0438) 837 620.
