Reliable detroit diesel mechanics Perth area

Postby Kappy » Wed Feb 17, 2016 1:15 pm

Hi

I contemplating the purchase of a Denning Mobile home with 4-71 Detroit diesel.

My intel reveals these engine can be turbo charged, making them quieter and more economical.

Does anyone know of a reliable diesel mechanic who can advise me on this?

Cheers

Have you driven this coach Kappy ?

It is all very well to say I don't want to go fast but the thrill of getting abused by every B double driver who is trying to pass you soon wears thin.

Compare against most converted coaches that have minimum 6 v 92 t's in them that is 6 cylinders that are 92 cu in and turboed, against 4 x 72 cu in that are not.
And to think about adding a turbo to an old,old 4-71 is not something I personally would contemplate. Don't forget, more fuel and air in equals more power equals more heat that you have to get rid of. No point if you add a turbo which will give you more power but you can't go any faster because the radiator capacity (designed for non turbo) isn't there. Been there done that, know what I am talking about.

Just make sue it has enough guts to stay with the traffic.

Hi

Not sure if you purchased this bus but an amazing guy who worked on our 8.2L Detroit is called Craig at General Diesels, Bellevue.
