Back in 1984 I saw an ex TAA Bedford bus (short wheelbase model) converted to a motorhome. They used a caravan interior for the conversion. It looked perfect. I guess there are used caravans that have interior layouts that are suitable for a conversion.
What problems would you encounter in that type of conversion? Are there any regulations to consider? The caravan interior would at least be lighter due to the materials used. Has anyone here done such a conversion?
Thanks.
Caravan Interior For Bus Conversion?
Re: Caravan Interior For Bus Conversion?
Vehicle standards bulletin 6 which can be downloaded from nhvr website and good engineering practice. Would be your starting point. Caravan standards are minimal compared to special purpose heavy vehicles.
One is seen as a trailer without occupants, the other a vehicle with occupants. Which means different engineering for restraint of things.
That said most bus conversions make caravans look cheap and nasty for the same $.
