Re: repowering
Go and talk to Cam at CPF, he will want to put a Detroit in it, mine is a small spec one that runs about 300 hp (6V92T) coach is about 17 tonne, trailer is 4 + up the Toowoomba range hard against the govenor at 2500 rpm in second cog, only about 20 kph then ! Otherwise will cruise at 100 with trailer on all day.
Cheers

Re: repowering
CPF Detroit Specialists are at 11-13 Dollis st Salisbury, Brisbane 32775512 I am happy with what they did and the price charged, less than expected. The owner Frank owns the Bandag Bullet which has 2 x 8v92's joined together like a V 16, 2600 HP on nitrous oxide, They know how to build Detroits !! Now that would get the Merc moving !

Re: repowering
More than happy to help Steve,
Probably a good plan if she is that under powered, I would not want to do Bulli or Macquaries Pass in something underpowered.
Meant to ask, what gearbox is in it ? and weight ?
I can imagine it must just crawl the hills at 180 HP. As I mentioned we are in second gear for the Toowoomba range, around 20 kph, that is a 1 in 10 grade, so I guess the Merc would make very hard work of it
