merc 0305 mk2 3spd auto transmission ????

merc 0305 mk2 3spd auto transmission ????

hi all
i have a friend who has a merc 0305 and he wanted me to try find out for him he wants it to go a bit quicker then 70 as it will be long trips he is going on and what sort of things he would need to do
he definetly wants a new auto transmission in it how much would this cost he was hoping maby a 5spd if possibly
and info can help

It would be easier and cheaper to buy a new bus that could do 85km plus if they have not yet fitted out the interior.
If you did the conversion to say an Allison auto you would need the box, associated computer and shifter, transmission mounts (hoping that the mount points are in the same spot) possibly need to modify the tail shaft, and may need an adaptor for the bell housing.

Further to what DiAmOnD T said - if he likes the dimensions of the mk2, and as DiAmOnD T says, hasn't commenced fit out, might be worth cutting his losses and getting a Merc O405 off the STA? From what I can gleen, it could be a matter of fitting a 4 or 5 speed ZF - the diff is already there
