B59 Transmission

Post by frogandshell »

Hi I have a B59 bus and have changed the diff ratio from 4.8 to 4.3 it now cruises a 100kph with no problem on the flat, but really struggles on the hills. I feel it needs more gears in the gear box as it is only a 2 speed.Does anyone know what gearbox will fit as it seems a very short distance from engine to diff, and where I can get one from.Automatic or manual? Thanks.

You could try a AT545 which is a 4 speed auto, handles up to around 230hp- 240hp. They should be readily available around the place, even seen some on ebay.

I've got one in a Isuzu powered Bedford, it goes well.
