Newby questions

Post by Challenged »

Hi all and thanks for admitting me to the forum.
I'm going to finally try to put my long held plans to convert a coach into a motorhome into place.
I'm currently going through the ad sites looking at what is available, units that appeal to me are a Scania K93, Mercedes 1418 and similar.
There is also a Denning Den Flex listed for sale.
Any advise and tips about which vehicle to buy would be much appreciated.

DenFlex was only a body designation, what chassis is it on?

The Scania and Merc should be reliable vehicles with reasonable parts availability. You really need to look at the overall condition of individual units.

Hi there, I have converted a few coaches into motorhomes myself...
I have found it best to start with a coach with a good service history and sound mechanical condition firstly.
2. Rear engine
3. Flat floor
4. Internal height of 1900+
5. Belly bins with internal height min 870mm
6. Bonded windows ideally
7. 2 Axles only
8. Air bags and brakes
9. GVM of about 15000kg - you will need it
10. Outward opening saloon door ( entry door)
11. Vertical exhaust stack a bonus and could save a couple k!
K93 Scania and merc all sound but can be a little tedious! Usually drive well and about 3.5klm per litre.
