Greetings to all.
Would anyone know when Clyde stopped making bus bodies? Was it with the last batch of UF's they built in 1961? It doesn't appear that they bodied any private buses during that period or after. Perhaps like ComEng they turned their focus to train production after supplying their last DGT UF order.
From what I have gleaned so far ComEng became ComEng Vehicle Industries (CVI) in 1965 and ceased bus production around 1972 and with the Clyde factory at Granville closing about a year later I'm assuming no more bus bodies were made by Clyde after that time either.
I've read that 'CCMC' (Cycle Components Manufacturing Company) became 'Custom Coaches Manufacturing Company' (referred to commonly as just "Custom Coaches") but exactly when is unclear, things written tend to say "at some point". The closest I can narrow that down to is 1962 but books and fleet lists seem to specify the body builder as 'CCMC' without clarifying whether the 'CC' stands for Cycle Components or Custom Coaches! Sometimes they even say 'CCMC/Custom Coaches' but in reference to a particular bus which is which?... short of actually seeing the build plates.

Clyde only built one vehicle for a private operator, that was an AEC Coach for Jack Spellacy at Blue Mountains Transport.
Prior to the order for 248 U/F's in 1958, Clyde had built only one single deck vehicle for the Government, that was a Leyland Lion.
They produced a number of DD's in the 1930's including the first all steel body.
After WWII they built a quantity of Leyland, AEC and Albion's for the Government.
They did not build any more buses after the 248 U/F's were built.
The Granville Plant did close in 1972. GM

Interior Views of the Clyde/BMT AEC.
The GMC's that Syd Wood built for John A Gilbert in the late 40's and early 50's, had drop windows, but I don't think they were half drop? GM
