SYDNEY UNDERFLOOR SINGLE DECKERS IN THE 50'

Post by ross johnson »

As a child in the late 1940's, early 1950's, I visited the Sydney CBD many times. I seem to remember seeing a single decker [or deckerS ] in the CBD, clad in the standard livery of green and cream, but with chrome strips under the side windows. The bus[es] also had a rear destination box in use above the back windows. I think the route indication may have been " 448 CANTERBURY [STATION ], but hey, that was over 60 years ago!

Anyone throw any light on the subject...... please!

There was only one like this, 2520, the first underfloor. Built by Comeng as a prototype.

Currently under restoration by the Road Transport Museum.

Seen here in later life:

Thanks Boronia and Fleetlists.

I note that at one stage it was at the STM, where I saw it , not knowing that it was that bus I'd seen all those years ago. Wow!!....[and it still has the chrome strips ].
