G'day everyone,
My name is Mike and I am currently living on the Central Coast (Gosford) but will soon be moving to Cootamundra.
I have a few acres at Coota and I am looking for an old 36ft bus to use as a lodging on the land while I plan and develop the place. I would be spending up to $5,000, which seems to be about the going rate for Mercedes 0305s and Volvo B58s etc. I don't think the bus will ever see bitumen again after I park it, but I reserve the right to move it around on my 4 acres from time to time. So I'm not really after something that needs to be 100% roadworthy, but a reasonably good engine would be good, as I can use it to charge batteries until I get the mains connected.
Fortunately, Coota is close to all kinds of places that have old buses! So I am thinking that all I need to do is get of my butt and go see some, but given the distances involved and that I am working full time on the Coast, getting to see buses is a bit tricky right now. So I thought I would start by introducing myself and, you never know, I might just get a couple of good leads from you guys!
Anyhow, glad to be aboard and I look forward to chatting with you all soon.
Mike.

try looking at some websites such as omnibus sales and service, jeff nance (normally through rv point) even local (or not so local) bus companys websites as they often have cheap buses.
Just watch out as many are slod with out rego so it will cost you a bit extra to get rego or a permit to move (normally point A to point B only)

Hi DiAmOnD T.
Yep, you can bet your sweet patootie that Google has been copping a thrashing of late. There's pretty much no site left unturned in our search for the right bus. I am expecting to have no rego, so a permit will be required most likely. If I can get one that's really local I might even be able to find someone to drive it home for me (what's a case of Crownies worth these days?).

Hi Mike, I personally quite like this website: http://www.bussalesonline.com.au/. There is quite a large range of second-hand buses for sale and at pretty resonable prices. You might also want to check out: http://www.truckandbussales.com.au/, http://www.usedbussales.com.au/ and http://www.nazzari.com.au/.
Hopefully these websites will provide a good starting point.

I wonder how up to date these web sites are? And do the depots sell great deals before they even get shown on the net? I think it will pay to have a few contacts at these depots - just in case.
Everywhere I go now all I see is buses
