[Nov/Dec 2017] SA Transport observations
Re: [Nov/Dec 2017] SA Transport observations
They have rear door boarding in Perth on some services. Looks like a free for all. Wouldn't want that here.

How about 892 & 1601?TA3001 wrote:1679 has been at Camden Park for at least a couple of months now.
It could have been a random transfer to meet shift requirements, that doesn't involve Newton being deprived of one their CB80s.
BTW, no bus could ever be considered 'at home' at Newton. It is a form of detention for any AdMet bus that has been unfortunate enough to end up there. 1636 and 1637 are not excluded from this category.

Only on the free CAT services in the CBD to my knowledge, and I'd say its permissible along St. Georges/Adelaide Tce. within the free transit zone, as many passengers hop on and off along there.Skexis wrote:They have rear door boarding in Perth on some services. Re: [Nov/Dec 2017] SA Transport observations
So rear door boarding in Perth is only permitted on services that are free anyway?
Re: [Nov/Dec 2017] SA Transport observations
Interesting that after midnight tomorrow morning LCB will run both C1 and 544 services from TTP to the City till 400am.
Re: [Nov/Dec 2017] SA Transport observations
C1 services go to North Tce and 544 services go to Currie St. I doubt there'd be a need for buses every 5-10 minutes to go around to the Royal Adelaide Hospital after midnight.jibb wrote:Interesting that after midnight tomorrow morning LCB will run both C1 and 544 services from TTP to the City till 400am.
Re: [Nov/Dec 2017] SA Transport observations
You are correct Eagle Eye. C2 and C1G and C1T operate from Y! North Terrace(City West) approx. every 30 minutes from 1230am until 400 am.

Same "free for all" as on trams and trains.Skexis wrote:They have rear door boarding in Perth on some services. Looks like a free for all. Wouldn't want that here.

1:00am NYD. City bound Obahn tunnel is closed.
I could not tell if the outbound tunnel was open or not.

I know that it's not 2017 anymore, but 3401 was doing an 861 at around 12:30 this morning. No 1790 to accompany it though!
Re: [Nov/Dec 2017] SA Transport observations
Absolute rubbish. On trains and trams the driver isn't responsible for fare collection and, supposedly, monitoring who validates and who doesn't.tonyp wrote:Same "free for all" as on trams and trains.Skexis wrote:They have rear door boarding in Perth on some services. Re: [Nov/Dec 2017] SA Transport observations
There's nothing different about a bus except that in some jurisdictions people have the option of buying a fare off the driver. It's the responsibility of RPOs to monitor who has validated, just as on trams and trains. Anyway, the world has already moved forward, now Adelaide is progressing and those buses with all-door entry will do their job far more efficiently for it.Skexis wrote:Absolute rubbish. I may have posted this before, but a demonstration of why we have all-door boarding (click the Vimeo button):Skexis wrote:They have rear door boarding in Perth on some services. Looks like a free for all. Wouldn't want that here............
