Travel pass

Postby Skexis » Fri Sep 22, 2017 12:26 pm

Referring to the blue free travel passes, what are the criteria for getting one? I've seen them used by young and old, the well dressed and the shabby, the washed and the stinking and everyone/thing else in between. There seems to be no pattern.

Which travel pass are you referring to? If it's the mobility pass which carries a photograph of the holder and stickers for each month; the stickers actually cost the same as a concession metrocard 28 day pass. Officially, they are issued to people who are unable to use the ticketing system; although I am not sure of the exact process to get one.

I think the one he's referring to might be some sort of MetroCard, which is a darker shade of blue than a regular MetroCard? I've seen them a few times, no idea where they come from or how to get them though...

Neither of those. The dark blue Metrocard is, I think, used by police and as such does not appear on web searches for Metrocards as it's a specific issue, pretty much like our red ones I suppose. The stickered one is kind of blue and white chequer pattern and I've never seen anyone who doesn't look like a tramp use one. The one I'm referring to has the words Travel Pass written in white on a dark blue strrip across the top and had a photo of the person on the right of the card and their name on the left.

According to Admetro, it's called Vision Impairment Travel Pass. You may find more about it in here.

Yup, that's the one. Didn't notice the black band at the bottom before.
