Southlink's New Bus

I heard some interesting info from one of my friends today that 30 more Volgren Volvo B8RLE's are set to be ordered in by August? I was just wondering if this was completely accurate? Seems like if it is true we could be seeing a fair few of those things going around.

We never get that many buses in 1 go-seems highly speculative!

They might place an order for 30 however delivery will be dependent on when they're made. I just hope they're better than the rubbish we've had previously, plagued with electrical problems. 2856 springs instantly to mind.

They seem like a pretty nice bus, I managed to get a ride on it during an outbound 720 a few weeks back. Love the door closing chime it has.

And no longer did I have to suffer through the three-tone chime that has been drilled into my head the last 10 years or so.

If you've heard the chime on the SL202 replacements ('1941' onwards, and 1826 onwards), you'll be happy to hear the old one. It is incredibly annoying. It sounds like a text message alert, and is just plain stupid for a bus chime.

On a couple of them they are so loud that they could almost cause me a headache. They are the worst buses I've seen enter service in Adelaide, so far...

Edited

Haven't gotten a ride on a CB82 yet but the old chime will be very welcome to me. I got on an 18.280 hocl-nl the other day and the chime deafened me haha.

They're nothing compared to the stuff built from 2014 and onward. 2402's chime is like an explosion in my ear.

BTW, they're just 'CB80s'. The CB82 doesn't exist....yet. Hopefully this will be similar to the CB60 Evo 2 with a few refinements. They are much better bodies in my opinion.

I just have a quick question as I am quite new to buses, but what is the difference between a CB60 Evo 2 and the original CB60 apart from age?

An updated body design. The Evo II has a taller appearance, the front bumper is a little squarer and less rounded, the side window line is elevated beyond the centre door as opposed to flat the whole way and several other small differences.

I have seen one in Sydney with "CB80 Series II" https://www.flickr.com/photos/193972346 ... 680824202/
Still operating with Transdev today.

The main change that I have noticed is the headlight area. On the normal CB60s the area around the headlights bulges out a bit and has more rounded corners. On the CB60 EVO IIs they are 'pushed' in and are more pointed out.

Ahh yes of course. I'm so used to riding Evo II's on the M44 I almost forgot what an original CB60 looked like
