New Mercedes for Lonsdale

No fleet number allocated yet. Personal observations - that nearside mirror sticks out a long way and I really don't like the light grey dash and steering wheel. Seat cover design looks ok but you'll need to be a mountaineer to get right to the back as those steps are fairly steep.

Nice! Will there be any more Mercs going to TT or Light City?

What bodywork is that? Looks absolutely... horrifying :evil: A MB OC500LE is it? Just... fine.

Mercedes Citaro built by Gemilang. Just O500LE (Euro VI) I think it's only Perth which has OCs.
First person on 822, 865 (2016 re-route).
Last person on 867, 868.

Not correct. At the Sydney Bus Show last year, Daimler Buses were marketing them as what they are - OC 500 LE.

O = Omnibus
C = Chassis

500 = Series

LE = Low Entry

(As described in the Operating Instructions book and Workshop & Training CD-ROM)

I thought it was just the area that it is being marketed that changed it because this is what Wikipedia says:
Wikipedia under Products wrote:OC500LE 1825h/1828h/1830h/1825hG low-entry modular bus chassis (also known as O500LE, soon to be accompanied by an articulated version)

Did you see the ninth photo attached? It shows an OC 500 LE operating booklet.

What's the issue this time? As far as I can see everything so far is connected with what I posted. How can any of it be a problem?

The O500LE vs OC500LE debate has been done many times on this forum, and has never ended in any resolution.

EDIT: Here's the first occurrence of this debate, which happened about 10 years ago now: viewtopic.php?p=232917#p232917

And here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=25706&hilit=OC500LE

And here:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=30952&hilit=OC500LE

And here:
viewtopic.php?f=28&t=32302&hilit=OC500LE

I can add more examples tomorrow, if anyone's interested...

that front is hideous - it's almost a throw back to the old square front of days gone by the less said about the windscreen the better. Suppose it saves a few dollars by just having a larger square section then the two small curved sections on the side but it's not a good look with those pillars.

I must apologise for the can of worms I have inadvertently opened. My original reply to Bus Suggestions's question was done based on some assumption I had which was that Brisbane and Sydney have O500s and Perth has OCs. I assumed Perth's was a one-off, having not really cared before, therefore assumed ours was an O500 as well. The user manual which Bus Suggestions rightly pointed out says OC500, which is what I will call it now.

So to all Mods and Admin who have to look at yet another O500 vs OC500 thread, I apologise. It was most certainly NOT my intention.

That pillar at the front is going to create the sort of blind spot you could hide a semi-trailer in.

This is a nice-looking bus unlike the Bustech because they've stuck to the "straight-line" principle in public transport vehicle design.

The only disappointing thing is that AdMet has chosen the low-entry interurban model rather than the standard low-floor urban model that's been widely popular overseas (the Brisbane demonstrator is one of these). Is this bus to be used around town or is it for long-distance work?

In 2008/9 SMRT in Singapore placed into service 134 Mercedes OC500LE / Gemilings. They too look a little gaunt but gain from the greater 2.55mtr width. They are now particularly good looking buses and suffer the same lack of attention to styling detail as the Merc prototype for Adelaide. For example no attempt is made to line up the small curved corner windscreen on the off-side with the drivers window (as is done on the all Merc produced Citaro). SMRT did in fact buy 50 Citaros next followed by 734 MAN / Gemilings with the body style produced under licence to MAN - a truely good looking bus. The OC500LE is shown above.

The photos show the MAN A24 / Gemilang, firstly in their second "pixellated" livery and then the overall lush green livery, which eventually will adorn all contracted Singapore route buses. The frontal roof fairing is useful in concealing the air-con unit and may also assist in airflow, but I believe all German MAN's of this Lions City style are hybrids and perhaps some of that equipment is placed on the roof and then hidden from normal view.

The MAN's shown above are A22's not A24, as stated. The A24 is in fact the artic type.
