[July/Aug 2016] SA transport observations
Six months down, six months to go, it's the middle of winter (and I'm freezing!), bring back summer already!
This is July 1, the new financial year is upon us. Don't forget to submit your tax return before the due date. Hopefuly you get a good refund.
Tomorrow (Saturday 2 July), Australia votes. Will we end up with Liberal or Labor in power??? We shall see!
A reminder that Metrocard and Metroticket fares increase as of Sunday 3 July. For details visit the Adelaide Metro website.
A new service; the "T2TX" starts on July 11, funded by the "Torrens to Torrens" project in an attempt to reduce the traffic in the area. Four morning trips inbound in the AM; four outbound in the afternoon. This service will be provided by Light-City Buses.
Please post your South Australian transport observations that wouldn't seem to warrant their own thread here.

So I was just having a look at some local stops, and couldn't happen to notice this bizarre discovery...
According to TransitTimes, the evening 745A yesterday was running 46min late!! This can't be right surely, is it simply a glitch with the app?

The driver for the 2152 trip may have forgotten to change his trip in the bcu.Hawkeye wrote:So I was just having a look at some local stops, and couldn't happen to notice this bizarre discovery...

I think with TT, services such as loops that start and end at the same stop are often shown that way, due to it being seen as a start point only. It's something that should be addressed.
I see it when I'm looking at imminent departures from A West Lakes. It shows the 371/372 in the same manner. However, with the J1s, it's not seen as a loop fortunately. However, with the very loose timetable, a display of 5-9 mins early could actually be accurate.

Yep, just a glitch. Like TA3001 said, loops that start and end at the same stop all have this issue. Route 866 for example, a few PM services start and end in Stirling. They are often seen to be running 22mins late, even though realistically they will be running 2mins early and have to lay over at stop 34B.Hawkeye wrote:So I was just having a look at some local stops, and couldn't happen to notice this bizarre discovery...

591 is another route where Transit Times shows both arrival and departure times at Golden Grove Interchange.
Just as a matter of interest Mitsubishi Rosa 1314 which often ran this route has not been out for quite a while(in fact it was recently out the back of Morphettville Depot),which suggest it may have been withdrawn, leaving Southlink as the only company still using them.

Passing Mile End depot today it appears to me that 1790 is being decked out for NAIDOC week with a dot paint style image (AOA) though not entirely covering the jet bus markings.

Did it look similar to 1831, from what you saw? It will probably look better than a big Advert plastered over the side of it, like 3401 has.thedom wrote:Passing Mile End depot today it appears to me that 1790 is being decked out for NAIDOC week with a dot paint style image (AOA) though not entirely covering the jet bus markings.

Southlink bus 2571 has had a door fitted to tbe drivers area. Was previously open access.
Re: [July/Aug 2016] SA transport observations
Details of the new T2TX services have now been posted on the Adelaide Metro website. The service is a trial service, and its future depends on patronage.
Buses will use Torrens Road and run express from Arndale Centre to stop D! King William Street and then Victoria Square F!. Return Services will depart from Victoria Square U!,then King William Street X2 then express to Arndale Centre.
There will be 115 extra car parks made available for commuters.

I hope the desto has a scroll.
I think it would be better to run them via Regency Rd and Churchill Rd, avoid Torrens Rd (and a level crossing) completely. IIRC the 253/4X ran that way for a short time, was there a reason they were moved back to Torrens Rd?

Re: [July/Aug 2016] SA transport observations
There was one time several months ago when the driver of a 254X went (50 kph) up Churchill Road and Regency Road. It doesn't really make much difference with the loose timetables. On that note, suspecting that the T2TX would be poorly timetabled, I compared it to the City to Arndale part of the 254X timeable. Sure enough, the T2TX supposedly takes 2 minutes longer to travel from Stop 2 to Arndale Interchange than the 254X does following the same route. This new service is already off to a bad start, and it hasn't even commenced yet.Lt. Re: [July/Aug 2016] SA transport observations
The 'T2TX' service only needs 18-19 mins at the most to get stop D1 in Adelaide. Adding any more time is just going to see it run early. However, given it's an express, the drivers might just floor it anyhow. I'll be surprised if the first service aren't at least 5 minutes early, assuming it leaves on time.

Re: [July/Aug 2016] SA transport observations
I think becuase its express and the only timepoints are the termini, it shouldn't matter. The arrival times are only a guide.
On another note, I'd like to know when hte photo was taken. In the background you can clearly see blue sky, and I can't speak for the whole of Adelaide, but certainly it hasn't been that nice in the Hills for ages.

Re: [July/Aug 2016] SA transport observations
The majority of our recent weeks has been full of nothing but rain and no blue sky at all, but we have had the occasional day with clear sky so they must have been luckyLt. Re: [July/Aug 2016] SA transport observations
All CB80s came with a drivers door AFAIK. 2571, which is the bus Skexis mentioned, is a CB60 Evo II, which did not come with driver doors.

Looks like I'll be busy this holidays. I need a photo of 1925, 1790 and a T2TX. 1831 and 1904 would be nice as well.

Construction of the new tram network is to begin later this year, with the first of the expansion being along North Terrace further east to the old RAH site.
