Postby I Follow PAFC » Tue Feb 24, 2015 5:26 pm

Outer Harbor & Grange line closures, bus detours at Tapleys Hill Road / Trimmer Parade intersection.
When: From Friday 6 March 2015 to Tuesday 10 March 2015.

Due to crucial track maintenance, pedestrian subway and signalling works, the Outer Harbor & Grange lines will be closed from Friday night 6 March until first service Tuesday 10 March 2015. Substitute buses will replace all Outer Harbor and Grange train services during this time.

The intersection of Tapleys Hill Road & Trimmer Parade will also be closed during this time. All 115, 117 and 118 buses will detour.

The "G1" (Grange replacement service) will also be required to detour from its regular route unless the intersection remains partly open.

How come this line is getting maintenance again yet no maintenance for other lines.
Next station is Victoria Square. Change here for all trains.

The Grange line is the one line on the network that has not received concrete sleepers in recent years. Level crossing upgrades have taken place on the Belair, Noarlunga and Gawler lines as part of the rail revitalisation program since 2009. The level crossings Woodville to OH were upgraded at the same time as the Port Adelaide viaduct work or later.

There has been a severe speed restriction over the Tapleys Hill Rd level crossing for many months and Adelaide Metro have classed it as critical maintenance.
Time to get bus priority and tram priority through the city and suburbs.
Time to police bus lanes which are used by arrogant car drivers.
Time to work for better timetables and better connections.

I thought many years ago when the links golf club held an international meet; the Grange line closed from Seaton park to Grange with replacement bus services. During the closure I believe they layed concrete sleepers from frederick road to grange terminus... if I have recalled correctly then just a short closure would be needed to finalize woodville to seaton park and the links golf course section - or a few short (weekend closures)..

Well, the level crossing this weekend has been relaid on timber sleepers, so I guess there is no immediate plan to upgrade the rest of the branch.
