Notice today what look like support poles for electrification have started going up on the Northern Line between Nurlutta and Elizabeth South stations, along side Purling Avenue.

2839 seen in service today on a 224, I believe this means all of the first 4 CB80 artics for Elizabeth are now in service.

If anything I thought support poles would be built on the Noarlunga line first since this will be the first line to be electrified. the seaford extension will be used as a test track this year for the A City trains and converted 3000s.

Not to mention Dry Creek to Salisbury which has already been mentioned as the first section of track to receive electric traction, for the testing of new EMUs before being sent on full mainline testing. Also as yet there is no evidence of a spur line at Elizabeth for future terminating trains as mentioned, perhaps this will be put on the backburner for a while until Elizabeth trains are put on the agenda.

There's little evidence of a station at Elizabeth at the moment, perhaps the spur will come after the station is completed...

For extra trains, added frequency like running Brighton trains.

There is a cross over just south of the station and before the Winterslow Road bridge. I assume down trains will terminate at Elizabeth then move past the cross over, sit virtually under the bridge then cross back onto the UP line and head back to Adelaide.

Further to this there is a wide "prepared" area west of the 2 main lines running from the cross over under the bridge and another 2-300m north of the bridge which I'm guessing the 3rd track for the turn around will be built upon. (similar to how the turn around at Salisbury is currently structured)

3211 was spotted this morning on Main North Rd around the Old Spot Hotel, and went at least as far as John Rice Avenue. It definitely did NOT visit Elizabeth Depot so it was very strange to see that bus so far from its usual stomping ground.

Perhaps a charter to the aquatic centre at Elizabeth? I've seen a few Aldgate buses there before...

No. I was sitting at The Grove Way/Main North Rd intersection waiting to turn onto Main North Road northbound, when it went past heading north. As I was going past the Old Spot Hotel I passed it again heading back south. It couldn't have got further than about John Rice Avenue or Hogarth Rd in that time!

In the Gawler Line Upgrade - Stage 2 thread of the Railpage forums (http://www.railpage.com.au/f-t11362747-s325.htm), Poxbox 3030 posted some photos of them, so beldin was right.

Spotted MAN SG280H artic 2371 at Salisbury Interchange this afternoon with it's front end damaged repaired and the paint looking all shiny!!! (or Shinny Tom  ) No Southlink decals up top on either side. It looked good though, returning to the scene of the crime.

For those who are wondering 1956 is still in service. Spotted it at Marion a few minutes ago.

The Kind St Bridge in Gawler is due to be demolished to make way for OHW etc...also whisper has it that the Gawler line might be double track all the way to Gawler Central....anyone?

Interesting, but doubtful on the double line. There isn't a whole lot of room down there, and it requires another bridge over the river to be constructed also.

Agree with LowRider's comments regarding the Gawler line duplication to Gawler Central, however if anything the only likely duplication may be at Gawler Central itself, just a double platform like at Mitcham and Blackwood, then reverting to single track. The up platform would have to be built where the Coles carpark currently is, or alternatively build a second platform on the eastern side of Main North Rd, Seacliff-style.

The Stoney can just fit in between passenger train movements for now, but if passenger trains were to go beyond Gawler Central then a passing loop at the very least would have to be constructed around Gawler Central or shortly after.

I'm hoping to see it go towards Roseworthy, Freeling and Kapunda, as well as to Gawler East/Concordia. Given the growth in both areas.

Personally, a baby step I'd like to see, which requires no more rollingstock, just a few drivers, is services on the Noarlunga/Seaford and Gawler Lines every half hour after 7pm, and services at least every 45 minutes on the Belair and Outer Harbour/Grange Lines This 1980s mentality of hourly services from 7pm is a joke.

Meandering along Richmond Rd on a 167 today; I noticed ex-Busways Scania 1328 parked up along the Richmond Rd fenceline, behind a MAN artic.
