Many moons ago the STA used to run buses to Gawler from the Weapons Research Centre at Salisbury (later DSTO, don't know what it is now). My memory is very hazy but Route 910 rings a bell for some reason. Or they might have been numberless "industrial" services.

Overall a great tram or Light Rail Vehicle.

I'm lead to believe that the acceleration of these units is actually slower than that of the Flexity's.

One TA driver told me that the Citadis' acceleration is pretty similar to the Flexitys until they reach 30-40km/h, then they struggle with acceleration a bit, and that was with an empty load. I had my first ride on one last week, and found the seats were more padded, but the angle of the backrest is a bit far forward. I also thought that they didn't 'hold' onto the track very well at corners and points - i.e. there was a bit more sideways movement.

Overall though a good ride and certainly much more high tech than the Flexitys, but I don't bag the Flexitys one bit.

2 routes ran as route 910

First started in Willaston and serviced Gawler East then straight down main north road to Elizabeth station then over winterslow road bridge and into D.R.C. (gather one of the many names of W.R.E. / DSTO)
Second started at Willston followed a slight different path to Gawler East and then via Main North Road to Uley road and then via current 228 to kinkaid then via current 400 to hogarth road and then direct to Front Gates of GMH

I received a leaflet from SouthLink in my mailbox: "Travelling to the City from Hallett Cove, Sheidow Park or Trott Park? Check out the new services"

I guess the services are only as "new" as the September changes, but it highlights connections between the 68x services and the 720 and directs people to the SouthLink website. The SouthLink site has a PDF (http://www.southlink.com.au/hcve%20brochure%20final%2012%202009.pdf) whose front page is a lot like the leaflet, and the timetable shows the connections between the 681/682 and the 720. When I look at the 681-685 timetable on the Adelaide Metro website, it doesn't show those connections.

So since when do the contractors provide timetables and send out leaflets? Is this just a result of Adelaide Metro not providing very good timetables (often erroneous and not showing some connections), or are SouthLink trying to get themselves some more business? Either way, it's good for passengers, but it seems unusual.

Any boost in passenger numbers on these services would boost SL's profits... so I guess it is in their interest to do this is AM won't.

1004 was mentioned in the observations thread, which reminded me of something about it... Does anybody know why 1004 has big Torrens Transit logos on the side of it?

Wasn't that the one that was used to transport helpers (SES volunteers?) to Port Lincoln a few years ago after the big bushfires were there taking sevral lives. I thought the TT logo was put on at the time to show that it was them providing the volunteer support and not the PTB. But I could be wrong?

Yes, 1004 transported the Mitsubishi workers over to the Eyre Peninsular.

How much would it cost for a Scania L94UB or K230UB? And how much would it cost for a Scania L94UA or K310UA? Please only provide true information, no guessing.

I don't think it'd really be common knowledge, not everybody on here owns L94UB's, K230UB's, L94UA's and K310UA's... I think I read somewhere once that the K230UB's were about $375,000, you wouldn't buy any of the others new, because they don't make them anymore (K94's discontinued, K310 replaced by K320)...

If route 153 was replaced by 150P, why wasn't 155 replaced by 157W?

(P.S. long live the 155 and bring back the T155.)

I know this year the Mercedes Benz O305 and O305G are due for retire from Adelaide Metro service, seeing as the MAN SL200 have a body date of 1984 are they due for retirement too.

Overdue. Have been extended because of extra services for train subs and extra routes (I think). If the O-Bahn Scanias don't arrive on time then the Mercs will have to be extended too.

The SL200's are only hanging around to assist with normal duties while low floors are being used on the rail subs.

I caught bus 542 on the O-Bahn today and got me thinking - was there a bus 543 that was the same or similar make to 542? IIRC there were 2 accessible O-Bahn buses before Scanias were introduced. If so, it's been a while - what has happened to it? I can't see it in fleet lists or disposals.

I was just wondering what is the patronage on your bus services? Would any one know the average? are there services maybe at night or on Sunday that carry none at all? I was wondering because over here in Perth a lot of services are being deleted (Liberal government) so I guess our patronage at nights and on Sundays are decreasing (Or just because liberals suck) but nothing in Adelaide or does your government maybe wait for one time to change your services?

Patronage varies wildly between routes, so there isn't really solid answer for that question...

Ok then sorry, what would the average be across the board? Do most services get sufficient patronage or is there quite a few routes with minimal or no passengers at certain times?

Too much variation, you couldn't really sum up what your asking at all... Averages are hopeless because it only takes an abnormality to skew the results wildly.
