Yes, not quite, and yes... I really need to stop letting people borrow my camera.
Not the Bruxner Highway near Alstonville, although getting close.

Re: Where Is It - New South Wales
To give a hint... There's a reason the grass in the foreground is recent growth...
Re: Where Is It - New South Wales
To give a further hint: The bus is not on the wrongside of the road-it's a dual carriageway road.
Re: Where Is It - New South Wales
I'll give this to Andrew seeing as it's been several days and he's within 10 km of the mark.
The location is Pacific Highway, Ballina. On the new bypass.

Clyburn?
If not, to narrow it down a bit-is this station still in use?

Re: Where Is It - New South Wales
Not Clyburn - not enough running lines or workshop areas. My guess is Royal National Park.

Neither - Oak Flats is too far south, and Rah is too far north. The WW11 gun emplacements in the background I thought might be a clue.

Another clue - what needed protecting during WW11 that you would set up gun emplacements ?

Re: Where Is It - New South Wales
Sorry captainch, not the lighthouse or Fort Scratchley, but I certainly had an interesting read looking up about Fort Scratchley. Too far north. My location ( I'll call it a town) with the gun emplacements (or what's left of them) produced something that would have been a likely target if the Japanese attacked during WW2. Gun emplacements were located at either end of this town to protect from any air attack. The road that the Sid Fogg coach is parked on is a major road, the photo is a little deceptive in that respect.

Re: Where Is It - New South Wales
Looks a bit like the outskirts of Bathurst on the Mitchell Hwy.... near where some car dealers are, but I don't recall any gun emplacements there... so I'm most likely incorrect!

Re: Where Is It - New South Wales
Geoff has it, there were about 6 or 7 Sid Foggs coaches parked on the side of the GWH at Lithgow ready for the next days trackwork a couple of weekends ago. The Small Arms Factory at Lithgow was what the gun emplacements were protecting and the one pictured here even had a fake farm built around it to disguise from the air if any scout planes flew overhead. As you head west, just before Lithgow Hospital on the left you'll spot them in the paddock. The other one was near Scenic Hill on the other side of Lithgow and had a fake collection of shops and buildings around it. They weren't needed in hindsight, but with Darwin bombed and Japanese subs in Sydney Harbour one could understand the preparedness. Over to you Geoff.

Re: Where Is It - New South Wales
I would have been way off, my original thought was out near The Station in Jindabyne (or just before it)
Explain your reasoning for putting the slowest, worst bus on the longest route. Surely it'd be more efficient to have a newer one. Where's my 8 speed M.A.N?
