I think the main reason should be the engine emission standard. B7R dose not offer Euro 6 which will be a mandatory requirement in Australia (or has been applied). Therefore, Volvo decided to stop its selling of B7R. In the early 2018, they also replaced B9TL by B8L which offeres Euro 6 instead of Euro 5 or EEV. That means Volvo(AU) had stepped into Euro 6.

The B8RLE is now offered as Euro 5 as well as Euro 6.

So how many differences between the engine of B7R and B8R? I heard that B7R's engine is not fitted with common rails injection while other models have. Besides, does the B8R have DPF in its exhaust control system?

V2353 is the last B7. B8's all the way. :)

The D7E engine has common rail injection but is sourced from Deutz of Germany. The D8C/D8K are UD-sourced engines and comply with Euro V and Euro VI respectively. The D8K has already undergone a major revision in 2017.

A logon city service Volvo B12B (Bustech VST) broke down at Upper Mount Gravtt busway station (outbound direction).
I should taken that bus at Elizabeth St but I went to the toilet and missed that one.

That does look to be the case - they did them all last week. Bus 1595 now at E doing loops in either direction.
Haven't seen 1595 on the loop for a couple of months now - is it still with BT?

I noticed the same thing. However it was operating a non-loop service on either Thursday or Friday.

What was the reason for the massive amount of reregistered BT buses over the last couple of months?

When I was up there in Feb I did notice a lot of the K, L and M series plates were quite faded - was that the reason??

Well actually no, it is not the rust repairs it is definetly the Fawlty Qld TMR (Transport and Main Roads) faded number plates.
It could be an exercise to see if the enthusiasts can keep up with the observations - so far they win - enthusiasts have noted more up to date changes than TfBs' own programmes. :shock:

The faded number plates explain some of the Willawong re-registrations; I don't recall the plates fading on the Carina and Sherwood buses that have been re-plated.

Still quite a few W buses with faded plates - I found it odd that they started changing plates at W1419 (up to W1519) when just about all the 1400's have faded plates.

I’ve noticed a lot of reg plates that have the L as a start letter are faded, even on cars and trucks. Strange that. The plates on the Sherwood volvo b7r buses didn’t seem faded last time I seen them and a couple of them have been replaced as well.

Had E2076 on my inbound 322 trip this morning.

Keeping an eye out as this could mean a few transfers are coming as it is a little odd that 2076 has been transferred whilst 2077-2093 are presumably still at Sherwood.

Are 2073-2075 still at Sherwood too? Just seen that 2196 & 2197 are at Sherwood now.

There are 1223 council buses servicing Brisbane.

In 2018-19 the council would retire 59 of those buses but would also deliver 45 new buses, with 16 of which to be larger articulated buses.

Cr Schrinner said those bus sizes delivered the equivalent of 60 new buses.

More than 33 million was allocated for the 2018-19 financial year to deliver the new buses.

I assume that the 29 new "regular" buses and 16 new articulated buses for next will be Volvo V8BLE and V8BLEA vehicles - can anyone confirm?

I also note that the news story detailed there were 1223 buses currently in service. From the BT Buses site, there are 1234 listed (although 2330 is listed twice).

There is a difference of ten buses which tends to suggest there have been some recent withdrawals - can anyone confirm?

Would these include the buses hired out to Hornibrook Buslines for Sandgate / Bracken Ridge operations??
