Long service leave

Postby baby38 » Thu Apr 20, 2017 2:00 pm

I was talking to another school bus driver working for another bus company doing a school run, he approaching 10 years service, he told me once you done 10 years service you are in tilted to long service paid leave .
The company I work for we have about 60 busses a lot of the drivers have done 10 years or more, I told them about this they seemed not to be interested in getting long service leave I think they are frightened of the owners of the company, also a number of them only get paid 3 hours per day for their school runs instead of 4 hours they complain about it but scared of management saying if you dont like find another job.

You are entitled to long service leave, with entitlement based on your current income if you are a fulltime permanent employee, or your average income over the past few years (may vary by state) if you are part time or casual.

If drivers/employers are doing under-the-table deals for cash in hand payments, it may be hard to prove any entitlement.

There is plenty of official info on LSL entitlements on the internet.
