Transdev bus 350 was on railbus tonight - very usual to see Transdev doing rail replacements.

Hornibrook 44 ran the last P315 service yesterday - after many years, Hornibrook no longer runs any services to Brisbane City.

It's the end of an era really - with Hornibrook no longer running any services to Brisbane. The 315 service, or as it was known originally as the 540, first commenced on Monday 18 December 1995 - through a partnership with Brisbane Transport.

A bus owned by Elson's Redcliffe Petrie Motor Service (later Redcliffe Brisbane Motor Service - taken over by Hornibrook during November 1977) operated the very first bus trip from the Redcliffe Peninsula into Brisbane City on 8 December 1924. This was the service now known as the 680 - which was truncated to Chermside from Monday 18 October 2010.

So it's really the first time in 92 years that a Redcliffe Peninsula bus will not operate into the city.

Sunbus Cairns drivers on Friday (7th October) are walking off the job over a pay dispute. Only two of the sixteen routes will operate and only hourly between 7am and 7 pm.
Cairns commuters to feel burn of Sunbus strike

JUST two of 16 Cairns Sunbus services will operate this Friday as workers strike over a pay offer they say is unfair.

Sunbus Cairns general manager Bob Osmond yesterday said he was “disgusted” with the Transport Workers Union stop-work decision.

He labelled the workers’ demands – a pay increase of 6.25 per cent – as “unrealistic”.

“Like other Cairns businesses, we are doing it tough with our revenue lower than it was in 2013,” Mr Osmond said.

“Accepting these demands would make the company commercially unviable and we would be forced to shut our doors.

“We have proposed productivity measures to maximise the wage increase offered to employees to 3.4 per cent.”

Mr Osmond said the union’s pay rise request was “more than three times” the payment increase the company received in its contract with the state public transport governing body TransLink.

He also said employees were paid 7.6 per cent above the award rate.

“However, to date the TWU has failed to agree to or even consider any of these proposals or offer any reasonable alternatives,” Mr Osmond said.

“Sunbus Cairns continues to negotiate in good faith and we encourage the TWU to make genuine attempts to reach a realistic agreement.”

Transport Workers Union Queensland secretary Peter Biagini said the proposed 3.4 per cent pay rise would mean Cairns Sunbus workers would still be paid well below their colleagues in Townsville and on the Sunshine Coast.

“Our members are sick of hearing from their employers that they can’t receive a fair rate of pay because TransLink does not fund rates of pay above the award,” Mr Biagini said. “The reality is that these drivers are doing the same job as Sunbus drivers in Townsville and the Sunshine Coast, and are getting paid less.”

Union members will be stopping work for 24 hours from midnight on Thursday until midnight on Friday.

The two routes to operate hourly services between 7am and 7pm on Friday will be the 110 and 142. The 110 travels between Cairns Central and Palm Cove, stopping at James Cook University and Clifton Beach, while the 142 runs from the city to Edmonton, stopping at Stockland Shopping Centre, Mount Sheridan Plaza and Bentley Park.

Commuters who usually use other services are urged to organise alternative transport during these times.

Changes to some bus services from 12 December.

Key points:

- some buses re-routed in the CBD due to the Queen's Wharf development

- fare zones on timetables show the simplified 9 January zones

Anyone know why trains are running around without the desto displaying anything today? Got a train into town from the airport which had Gold Coast displayed, but once I got into Roma St every train I saw was blank.

There was a fire in the engine bay of Park Ridge Transit PRT091 Scania/NCBC-Gemilang back in September.

New bus timetables effective 19 December 2016 tell passengers to check the My TransLink app, website, or call 131230 for train connections.

The train connections are no longer timed.
