Nothern busway question

Does anyone know why parts of the northern busway are covered with those cages? (reminds me of something you might see at a zoo actually) where most of the rest of the busway system isn't? Is there some specific problem with people accessing the busway in that area that necessitated the cages? People throwing stuff at buses?

EDIT:
Or is it because of the massive golf course I just noticed on Google Maps?

If you're referring to the part near Herston and QUT Kelvin Grove it's to stop stray golf balls landing on buses from Victoria Park Golf course next to the busway.

Kind of guessed that once I looked on Google Maps and saw the big golf course...
