Its a pretty dodgy angle, but here it is today near Goodna.

For the purposes of comparison, here are EMU 52 and 59 at Wacol.

Note the fact that 161 is almost inaudible over the background noise of the engineering workshop behind me, despite the fact I was about four times closer to the train than I was to the workshop, and had the cameras microphone facing the opposite direction.

I have Friday off so if anyone knows where 161 will be Friday let me know so I can go find it and get a few photos.
I would love to be a bus driver, but I don't want to be!

Does it just go up and down the line repeatedly all day or something?

Yeps!

The train is too tall for the older tunnels in the City because of the air-conditioners ... or that's the way it seems for now.

those airconditioners are awfully ugly. It's like taking a step back to the EMUs... the SMUs had them nicely concealed in the raised roof, shame they havent done the same this time!

Really? :o Where'd you find that out? It's just I find it hard to believe that QR would have allowed a train that exceeds the loading guage of the suburban network to be built brand new for them.

I thought that the Gold Coast tests at the end of the week were using the Ekka loop and then going back to Robina via Central.

The A/C was only out by 5mm... They initially black banned it on F/G line but have lifted that ban...

How did you know the air-conditioners were only out by 5mm?

Where will IMU 161 be on Friday?

Yeah those air conditioners looked really out of place on a modern train. It was interesting to see at Ferny Grove station an EMU on one platform and the new IMU161 on the other platform. You could actaully really see the similarities, even though they are nearly 30 years difference in age!!

I took some but the glare and reflection on the windows means they are pointless. But they havnt yet installed seats and other interiors that much yet so there isnt much to see. Mainly alot of big metal things used to act like passengers (dead weight)!!

Would an angle grinder shave 5mm off the top or make too much of a mess?
