Landmarkhire - Big Yellow Double Decker - (GB Rego)

Post by Bidgee »

I'll be stuffed to know if it's a Leyland or not and the model but I found this bus parked at the Olims Hotel Canberra carpark (Still parked there when I was coming back from the City (Civic) about an hour ago)!

Oh wow. That is a Leyland Olympian with a Northern Counties body. MOST Olympians with that body are an ONCL10/2RZ4 or ONCL10/2RV3 (Cummins L10 and ZF 4HP 500 or 3 speed Voith respectively) although it is an earlier body (going off the thick window pillar behind the first upper deck window), which could make it an ONTL11/2RH or ONLXB/2RH (Leyland TL11 and Leyland Hydracyclic gearbox or Gardner 6LXB and Leyland Hydracyclic gearbox respectively). Great find, Bidgee!

EDIT: Looking at Bus Lists On The Web, I came across this:

F254YTJ Ld ONCL10/1RZ ON10997 NC 3776 H47/30F 2/1989 Merseyside 254

So I was incorrect on the chassis, it was infact a /1RZ4 and not a /2RZ4. But this confirms that it is Cummins powered and has a 4 speed ZF and new to Merseyside as their Fleet No. 254.

Het Windy do remember this bus was in a thread back Janurary sitting in a shipping yard at Port Kembla Wollongong after it was shipped out from Southhampton as I emailed the former owners.
They told me that the bus was bound for Sydney now it has turn up in Canberra it has certainly travelled I wonder what it use is in the ACT.

If its in Canberra...then maybe its going to be used there.

I saw ex Liverpool Corporation Atlantean / MCW L554 there in January 2005. It was parked in a yard in the North West of Canberra and a local Bus route ran past it.

That was signed a "Sydneys Greatest Party Experience. The Moonlight Bus" and when sighted was still registered MO 70.

Further information would be appreciated to me at Ribble@xtra.co.nz please about 254.

It's around the back of Olims. I saw it while I was on a 937 the other day (Saturday)

Cummins with ZF, thats a crazy combination.

An ex-Lothian Olympian in Hong Kong have the same drive line can do 110km/h.

No idea, Sorry.

I didn't have time to go looking for 254 but I did stay at the Olims and the only bus (other then the ACTION's of course) I seen was an Australian Defence coach parked.

I spotted it still parked in the same old spot where it was last reported (I'm assuming it is located out near the airport as that is where I seen it) to be and still in the same livery when I was in Canberra in late January.

The bus was moved from the Keirs Canberra Yard back to the Olims Hotel Carpark. Looked as though it had standard ACT plates on it.
