Ventura Pie Cart mobile home conversion

Postby Ben_Daui » Wed Oct 26, 2011 8:29 am

I noticed this Pie Cart parked in Hay St yesterday, I don't like the checker plating it does not suit the bus although as it is a mobile home I suppose the owner can do what they like to it.

Think you may find it is ex Blue Ribbon looking at the waist and roof colour.
I had someone try to buy one off me once who wanted to open the side up to make an ice cream truck!

I was not sure which livery it was that why I assumed it was a Ventura, Blue Ribbon & Ventura have similar colours.

Would be annoying wouldn't it.

I wonder if this is an auto or a manual one?

And the Ventura unit in question has a PMCA Middy body, rather than the Custom Coaches unit shown,

It looks like an Ice Cream truck but not bad for a mobile home since it has a very spacious cabin compared to conventional RV's

The chequer plate is for practical purposes. Lots of people can push together without their hands slipping !

I actually saw this thing at Bunnings Rockdale, probably a year ago now, and the owner caught me looking at it - I was thinking "wtf" mind you, anyway he told me he put the chequerplate on to protect the fibreglass!

I too have seen this oddity on the road. Now I know what the checkerplate is about! Abit drastic methinks!

wouldnt make a good ice cream bus  , the 120hp donk would battle getting 2 icecream machines on board up a hill  , but hey, it would give the kids chasing it a better chance of keeping up, and not missing out to catch him!

And the Blue Ribbon ones had bonded windows where the Westbus ones were rubber mounted.

The darker blue stripes on roof line were also typical of BR livery.
