Bedford Memories

Post by LocoLes »

When the Bedford was once popular in Tasmania and could be found in use as school buses, motor homes, small town operators and even sitting quietly in a paddock :!: Here is a selection of different bodywork including CAC, Ansair, Freighter-Lawton, Freighter, Smithfield, Hedges etc. photographed over a long period. CAC bodies first. :P

Img#70 looks to be CITY BODYWORKS, with the bus being ex Glamorgan Line and possibly ex Baldocks (Ulverstone) before that. Wonderful selection LocoLes. Thoroughly enjoyed

Thanks Les for the pics. I think the "Hedges" bodies on the VAMs are all something else. The first and third are CCMC (Custom Coaches) and the middle one is Superior.

Thanks to Tas Bus Nut, Denv12, System Improver, CCCC for your corrections and your kind remarks. :) Your info corrects and fills a gap in my albums and is much appreciated.
It is gratifying to realise fellow members also appreciate the effort that is associated with organising a post. Next 'project' will be Trans-Huon in Huonville [soon].
Cheers, Loco Les. :)

I have just realised that the Freighter-SA Bedford VAL [LA 9999] of D & P Scott, Rowella is the VAL shown in Scott's fleet list as being held for preservation. It is shown passing City Park, Launceston c.2002 in all white livery. Looks like a worthy vehicle for preservation. :) Here it is attached once more.
