LAST BATCH
RED COACHES' in Campbell St outside Royal Exchange Hotel
CENTRAL COAST COACHES' AEC/Denning is on Hobart's waterfront
KIRKLANDS' coach could be in TAS, but quite easily be on the mainland.
HANNAFORD's appears to be alongside a GRENDA'S bus, so assume mainland.
AYERS COACHES are parked in Stephen St New Norfolk opposite old depot.
MORSES' may :?: be in Davey St up from the Aberfeldy Hotel (maybe)
GRAYHOUND TOURS is parked in the Treasury Building carpark (facing Franklin Sq)

Great collection of photos. Thanks for sharing your photos James McCullock. Can anyone provide any information on any of these vehicles? The Burr's Coach Service looks interesting. Is that a slightly modified Comair? Very interesting history.

Burr's Coach Service coach was built by City Bodyworks at Moonah, reportedly last vehicle to come off their line before closing down.

The photo of Burr's International was taken in August 1966. CBW were building buses into the 1970's. The last Bedford's for MTT were bodied by CBW in 1971? Maybe it was the last body built before they moved to Moonah perhaps?

Good for history to be put in it's correct order. Just working with memories of comments passed at the time, they are not necessarily correct. I'll be a bit more careful in what I say in future. LOL

Can't match me for putting my foot in it! Ted has photos of a Ford nearing completion at the Moonah site which I think he said may have been the last one, built for Renison?

Thanks for the pic Trainiac, of Leyland Royal Tiger, my memory of mods to front were correct for once, grill gone & twin headlights fitted in place of inadequate singles. Didn't look to bad with fresh coat of paint. Spent a lot of time on Richmond run & day charters. If you haven't got it yet Grayhound Tours No. 28.

Can anyone tell us who the body builder was as I am unable to remember & there are no tell tale plates on outside.

EL037_24 looks to be an ex-Adelaide MTT Transett, judging by the destination headers.

Yep. It went to Corio BL from the MTT in 1958 (one of six), and is still in their two tone green livery. They sold it to McHarry's in 6/65, who sold it to Furmage of Doloraine in Tassie 5/66.

Tas Coach Lines D48 Ansair Bedford VAL. Burnt out at St Peters Pass near Oatlands, Heading from Launceston to Hobart on 2.15 pm service. Cause of fire believed to be broken fuel line which sprayed diesel right through under coach & over exhaust manifold, which consequently started fire the length of coach. All passengers & driver got off coach safely except for driver whom received minor burns to his hands. All luggage & freight was lost.

The first Commer Avenger has Pioneer Clipper on the badge and the second has Ansair Commer.

I guess that the Cook's Ansair Federal would have been new to Pioneer Tours.
