[Sound] Metro #507

Today I had the pleasant surprise of catching #507 (MAN 10.180 HOCL) on my regular commute. A rarity if there ever was one! I just LOVED the sound of the gearbox!

Needless to say, I have posted pictures of #507 before and I thought I should do something different. I purchased a new digital voice recorder last week, and I thought it would be a nice idea to record the bus in transit.
Since there is no dedicated board to sound clips, I've posted it here.

To note: At the start, we were indicating to stop at Clarence Pool, and the ride continues into the city later on. You can also here a ticking noise in the recording as the window was rattling. Otherwise, it was a splendid ride.

That brings back lots of memories driving those MAN's, their gearboxes certainly did have a whine.

Nice recording. Classic ZF gearbox sound. I think it's termed a "howler" when it sounds like that. The 200s Scania L94s have a similar ZF sound (233, 244, 235 particularly).

I always enjoy the sound of a good ZF!
