Derwent's first photos from South East Tour 2010

Post by Derwent »

Well, here are the first photos from my lot taken on today's 2010 Tasmanian Bus and Coach Society Enthusiast's Tour of south east Tasmania!
These are only what I took with my pocket digital camera, the ones I took on film (and those there will attest I was carrying around a bag with three film cameras, plus two extra lenses, a teleconverter, lightmeters, remote releases, tripod, filters, two flash units, spare batteries, 8 rolls of film and a few other bits and bobs, and I used a couple of rolls on the day) will be a few days in coming, and then will need scanning before I can upload them...

Anyhow here goes!

Image

This is the Volvo B58 we used for the first and last legs of the tour, courtesy of Wisby's who generously lent it to us for the day.
Parked at Rosny Hill lookout.
Excuse the colour cast, the white balance setting was set for tungsten lighting which is around 2300K colour temperature not the ~4500K of the daylight...

Some of the motley crew standing around the bus...

Another shot, but with correct colour balance this time...

Image

The mighty B58 at Richmond where we stopped for a photo opportunity, however this was the only photograph I took there with the digital, but I burned a fair bit of slide film there...original Fujichrome Velvia RVP too, of which I have a jealously guarded stock of around 10 rolls...this emulsion has not been made for several years, but I keep mine in the freezer to extend its life.

THis is a Mercedes O305 which was in service with Byrne's, aka Coal River Coaches, but is now being converted into a motorhome by one of the drivers there.

Image

A shot of the work in progress on the motorhome conversion.

The driver's compartment of the O305 motorhome.

Image

The classic dashboard of the Mercedes.

Image

Another interior shot of the motorhome, with people getting in the way as usual...

Final shot of the interior of the motorhome...tune in to the next thrilling installment for further photographs of the tour as it progresses!

Didn't like the roof lining in the O305. Looked like an office  That 2nd / 3rd shot provides a great outlook to Hobart, especially since they cut the trees back. OOPS shouldn't have said that ,The Greenies are in power

I have just come across this post, and notice it's from waaaay back in 2010, so I am aware I may not get a reply...
Are you joking re the asbestos roof lining??? I have a bus exactly the same with the same looking lining, but I don't think mine is asbestos...

I believe it to be a tongue-in-cheek comment. Buses do not have asbestos in their construction.
