FOUND The Lost Clipper of Bagdad

Postby bothwellflyer » Sun Jul 29, 2012 10:32 pm

It has finally came out of the bush be it on a made up chassis loader as it is body and chassis rails only but it is all very solid and in good nick for something that has been out in the bush for 30yrs, it could be a 5yrs plan but it will be preserved .

They are going to have fun and games finding the right chassis for this as there would not be very many Clipper chassis out there.I hope someone good at welding and bodywork to get this from wreck to brand new.I hope I am alive in 5-10 to see this fully restored  .

Well done Trev. The elusive Bagdad mystery has surfaced. You didn't happen to find the AF# on the rear chassis rail per chance :?:

Good find there Trev. Like Neil will be interested to know AF #. Normally on the LHS chassis rail at the rear. If we can get that then I could tell you what it's TCL fleet # was. Would love to see a clipper restored to TCL livery.

A number has been found near the front vent under the paint D63 (Tas Coach No)? any ideas , and it not one off the two which were on the road side this has been up on the hill further up, it is believed the ones on the road, one of those ended up a Lower Marshes and the other went to Carlton River and is possible buried in the Tip

D63 was the Pioneer Fleet Number. This would be AF84, new 10/56, first rego GNY 492.

TCL also had the prefix D before the number for their diesel powered buses and P for their petrol powered buses. for example AF26 was D115. Will check that out later.

that particular bus is at upper scamander, have seen it since the fire and remarkably is still ok on outside but heat melted the inside badly, it was in the clipper colours, blue and white from memory,
