This month in Marmion...

Post by Bus Suggestions »

Here's a few shots I took over the past two weeks in an attempt to also kickstart the WA photos.

MAY 7:

2919 rushes ahead on an early morning 387.
Image

2198 on a 384:
Image

MAY 15:

2547 after arriving at Warwick on a 446:
Image

...and on layover:
Image

MAY 19:

2071 on an afternoon 384. Somehow, I'm still amused when I see 384 on an OC's desto!
Image

Later that day, 2148 zooms across Morley Dr as it heads 000 into the city.
Image

...and a rear view, as it heads off into the distance:
Image

This morning (MAY 20):

2084 on layover at Warwick:
Image

2544 loads some schoolkids on a 445:
Image

And a poorly framed shot of recent mover 1354, also at Warwick:

All shots were taken with a Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9506.
Enjoy :)

I'm getting an 'accessed denied' symbol on the images, and notice it links to 'Googleusercontent' (I'd assume Google Drive). Might need to check your sharing settings :D

I take it from Google Photos as my phone automatically syncs my photos there. Interesting, when I go into Tor (where none of my cookies are used and I'm auto signed out from everything), the links show perfectly... I'll edit the links through my Flickr.

I see Joondalup and Marmion are now having global running like old times. When Path Transit had the monopoly of the Northern timetables we had Malaga OCs on the 870, of which 384 is something of a spiritual successor. Seeing 2071 on 384 reminded me of those times.

Now, we are more likely to spot 2596 (Claremont contract bus) on 82. In olden days the chances of spotting a Midland bus on 36 or 294 (both Kalamanda contract routes) was high as a kite. Also, CV used to handle some South Perth (30-34 under Kalamunda contract) runs. And yes, 527 and 930 still get buses from CV and Gosnells. The relationship between Canning and SR is so close that it is almost like they are one area. It is most evident at Thornlie, where if the train station hadn't been built, there might never have been a bus hub.

Karrinyup OC's did 354's and 870's, but not Malaga ones. Also Gosnells used to do some 34's.

Another interesting one was that during summer, 102's used to run so late on a Sunday, that they ended up linking them up with the 30 and 31 services, to allow time to catch up. This meant that 13xx Shenton Park and Nth Fremantle NH's would be whizzing around Salter Point, while some 13xx or 14xx OC would be plodding along on a 102.
If it's not a ZF, take it back!

A few more to finish up a very Marmion May.

MAY 25:

1399 on layover at Warwick, amongst stormy skies.
Image

A poorly framed 2196 as the wind threatens to blow my phone to the platforms below.
Image

I seem to stumble upon 2919 often, as here it is attempting to escape the limelight at Warwick:
Image

MAY 26:

I believe this is 2019 000'ing down Mitchell Fwy past Glendalough.
Image

Later in the afternoon, 2902 on a 386.
Image

2026 rushing the other way on a 384...
Image

...and a rump view revealing a PATH B8 I failed to capture:
Image

2679 on a 384 the other way:
Image

MAY 27:

2132 pulling in on a 385:
Image

MAY 28:

2922 on an afternoon 384:
Image

Enjoy a very Marmion May - I'm aiming for a Joondalup June next :)

Yes, that is 2019, as 2020 has the same ad but doesn't have the ad borders :joy:

Cheers!
Officially the last person to tag off the 381 - 20/5/16.
Second last person to tag off the last timetabled 16 - 23/08/19.
Last person to tag off a Transdev Joondalup service - 19/1/20.

Thanks Bus Suggestions - while they’re not the perfect photos, I enjoy seeing the location setting of where they are. Far too many people these days zoom in so all the photo shows is the bus - in these photos I can see where the bus is running
First person on 822, 865 (2016 re-route).
Last person on 164, 867, 868

Wholeheartedly agree. Throw in terminus shots, too. They're good in the sense termini do eventually change (how many times has the terminus changed for the 535/536 since Aubin Grove opened?), but shots out on the streets are the best sort :D

I've taken a 18xx OC on 870 before. 18xx OCs are all allocated to Morley package. Never saw any SR bus on 34 but used to see CV ones rather often. Back then Claremont and Belmont were one area, a remnant of the through routing era. It was only about 10 years ago that Belmont was merged with Kalamunda.

Incorrect... 1858 was allocated to Karrinyup for a long time, due to an incident requiring it to be moved out of the Malaga contract area. There were also a couple of Karrinyup shifts that were run out of Malaga (as Malaga shifts) for a short time, which meant obviously that Malaga buses would rock up on Trigg/Joondalup runs. Also note that early in the privatisation era, Malaga used to run the five hundreds and eleven hundreds on 354's, prior to them re-arranging the allocation of runs etc...

At the time, the Belmont and Claremont runs were run seperately from each other. The runnning of the 102's and 30/31 services was done, simply to alleviate late running on the 102's (ie the same 3 or 4 buses being stuck doing only 102's and ending up 60+ minutes late, due to the Cottesloe Situation).

Gosnells buses were regularly used on 34 services in the past. I know this as I was regularly around back in the day.
