Scania / Custom in 2013 (from Jeff)
130831Sa Woodlands Park (Adelaide, SA): Rail replacement bus, Scania / Custom Coaches 2543. (Jeff Bounds)
From ABFL: SouthLink, Fleet number 2543, registration XJA748, Scania L94UB / Custom Coaches CB60A, built Mar.06, seating B41DW.
This is based at Elizabeth, but is working in the southern suburbs. I guess that this was during a lengthy shutdown, and buses had to be sourced from many places.

Nice shot
I don't seem to recall seeing many L94UB's operating on the Seaford (at the time Noarlunga) line, in fact it might have been 1 of very few.
I doubt buses had to be sourced from many places, as Lonsdale always seems to have spare buses in their yard. At the time, they would have also had the Merc O305/G's and MAN SG280H's (approx 100) available to cater for the services. On top of that, they also brought in some more recently built CB80's, brought into service just for the train substitutes which have since been renumbered (some) and shared among the 3 Admet operators for normal duties

By August 2013 though, the Mercs were all gone, and as this pic was taken on a Saturday, they would've used low floors. I'm thinking that this bus might've ended up at Lonsdale on a meal break as part of a regular shift with through-running (they still did that back then), and the driver has ended up leaving this bus at Lonsdale and taking another bus up to Elizabeth.

From memory, Pooraka depot did a small number of rail shifts during the 2013 closure: This bus may have been one of these as Pooraka and Elizabeth swap buses for servicing etc.

NL202s and 18.280s are allowed to do these runs (regarding Southlink Edinburgh North/Pooraka rail sub shifts), but not the 11.190s. It's generally down to driver preference at night.
If the driver prefers an NL, he can keep it, even if he's doing the 8:15PM 228 on a Friday night from Adelaide. It's about keeping them happy to assist the work flow. One of these did the last 228 into Adelaide on a Saturday night once. It was 2219 from memory.

Looks more like a H4! Pretty poor excuse for an 'N'.

From my observations, SouthLink don't use a very good font for their destos. "A"s on the 834A and 835A look like "R"s on the southport destos.Eagle Eye wrote:Looks more like a H4! Pretty poor excuse for an 'N'.

I find the font on SouthLink buses fine to read.. Some people just see things differently, but then again maybe I've just gotten used to it over the many yearsLt. Take this photo for example, to me each of those letters stand out just fine. IMO the A looks like an A, and not an R but there are slight differences between certain desto's on buses

It's mostly th Southport destos (found on some NL202s, 11.190s, CR224Ls and NL232s). LED ones aren't too bad these days, but TransitPlus knew how to do Southport destos well.
