I think the photo of the 2 M44G's at Marion pretty much sums up the week.

Not to mention that M44G services are night-time only and this shot was clearly taken during the middle of the day. Fail!TheLondoner wrote:I think the photo of the 2 M44G's at Marion pretty much sums up the week.

The J2 in the first picture....wheres the Obahn guide wheels? the J2 is an Obahn service (or was)....doesnt look right. Last time i checked only the only MANS doing that work were the SL202s

Re: 1st couple days of new contracts
JetBuses are no longer through-linked with O-Bahn services. Two different companies operate 'half' each of the previous through-linked J1 and J2. Torrens Transit which now operate the JetBus services in the western suburbs don't have the O-Bahn (outer north-east) contract any more, thus explaining why the bus in the photo has no guide wheels. Any and all types of buses TT use can be seen on JetBus services nowadays.Heardy_101 wrote:The J2 in the first picture....wheres the Obahn guide wheels? the J2 is an Obahn service (or was)....doesnt look right. Re: 1st couple days of new contracts
One thing I've noticed with these shots (and Adelaide members may be able to clarify), however the new CB80s DON'T appear to have fog lights like all the other buses. Yes they have those small "driving" lights in the bumper, but they are not fog lights (are they)
Re: 1st couple days of new contracts
That's correct. In addition, those LED lights that look like fog lights cannot be switched on/off by the driver at any time. I always have my headlights switched on driving these buses so the lights that resemble fog lights are not on.Tas Bus Nut wrote:One thing I've noticed with these shots (and Adelaide members may be able to clarify), however the new CB80s DON'T appear to have fog lights like all the other buses. It seems that either the LED lights are beginning to fail or are being switched off by Custom Coaches/bus mechanics on some buses, some CB80s now don't have these LED lights on when the headlights and parking lights are switched off, and one of SouthLink's 1 or 2 week-old CB80 artics doesn't have them active either. Then you've got the odd one where one LED light won't be working and they look completely stupid driving around with one side on, the other off.

They aren't fog lights anyway, and neither were the old ones, they're driving lights.

Re: 1st couple days of new contracts
The LED ones are great in theory, the white light is very noticable so they are just as good as headlights in daylight, and being LED they should last much longer than the headlights globes would. Although from what has been said it sounds as if reliability may be an issue with these particular units, that said I am surprised to hear they have been failing considering they are a Narva part, I would suspect its more likely to be a wiring issue considering they are Customs after all.
Also, having them always on when headlights are off is an operator specification, for example only one of the 5 CB80's at Nationalbus has them in this configuration, the rest are on a switch.

Eagle Eye: How are these lights wired up in the O-Bahn equipped CB80's?

Re: 1st couple days of new contracts
I guess you are asking how these lights operate on O-Bahn buses, what with track lights and all? They are exactly the same as all other CB80 buses; in other words the fog light switch is inoperable by the driver. The Phonj wrote:Eagle Eye: How are these lights wired up in the O-Bahn equipped CB80's?
The CB80s are therefore also the first O-Bahn buses without 'track lights', however 'track lights' on Scanias are useless anyway as all they do is light up a metre or two in front of you and don't improve visibility on the track at night one bit! Fortunately the high-beam lights are sufficient enough on the majority of Scanias.
