Ugghhhh That Leyland Lynx is soooooo ugly. Wonder why they are spending all the $$$$ on the old Austral, looks like a major job there
xxxx ooooo
Re: Wide Bay Transit, Hervey Bay
Is that a bus depot or a museum of old relics?

We're far richer for hearing that last comment. Thanks for that.
Re: Wide Bay Transit, Hervey Bay
I'm suprised that Leyland Lynx is still going. I'm suprised the body is still in usable condition. They rattle and crash far worse than any Scania low floor i've driven. When South Trans had them they weren't really good for any roads with bad pot holes.

Re: Wide Bay Transit, Hervey Bay
I remember driving one down the Princes Highway through Blakehurst one night. As I went over the joins in the concrete near a drain, I heard a loud bang. Thinking that I may have hit something, I stopped to find all the hopper windows had come open over the drain!

I reckon if this fleet was in yellow and white paint, you'd swear it was the Surfside Ernest fleet pre-Translink days.

Re: Wide Bay Transit, Hervey Bay
I think it's good to see a fleet which still have some REAL Buses in their fleet....
Re: Wide Bay Transit, Hervey Bay
Thats funny, I reckon the other dodgy spot for the Lynxs were The Kingsway Miranda just before Port Hacking High, lots of fire hydrants and pot holes to make the whole bus go bang.mrobsessed wrote:I remember driving one down the Princes Highway through Blakehurst one night. Re: Wide Bay Transit, Hervey Bay
Are those two Lynx's ex Southtrans? I remember riding on them to and from my grandparents place at Sylvania Heights in the SouthTrans days. Some good memories. I always liked getting them because they were something completely different even though they rattled like crazy!
Is that the truth or did you read about it in a Rail Back on Track media release?

Nice to see something different. Perhaps the bus getting work on the rear end is getting extra seats?

I was wondering why some of the fleet saids "wide bay" and some others say "bay bus and coach"?
Nice picture's of some unique buses.

Re: Wide Bay Transit, Hervey Bay
Wide Bay bought out "Bay Bus & Coach" aka Hervey Bay school runs during 2007, and kept the name. Same as the "Down Under Tours" name which they still have on a vehicle they bought from them + the tour work.Merc 248 wrote:I was wondering why some of the fleet saids "wide bay" and some others say "bay bus and coach"?

Re: Wide Bay Transit, Hervey Bay
Here they are when with South Trans as units 70, 72 (Pic's taken while I worked there on work placement through school) I did'nt manage to get a pic of the other unit 71 before it was damaged.

Re: Wide Bay Transit, Hervey Bay
Thanks for posting your own shots, Diamond T. Many memories travelling on those two. Hopefully there are some more Southtrans photos to come!
Re: Wide Bay Transit, Hervey Bay
Thanks for posting those 2 South Trans pics. Spent many a time travelling to school and back in them.
Any chance you could post those 2 pics in the Sydney section of photos along with any other South Trans gems you have?

Well unfortunately it has ruffeled a few feathers, so I have retracted and appoligised so we can just get on with the main point of the ATDB.The Exposer wrote:Your previous comment was much more entertaining though. & so true!DiAmOnD T wrote: [appoligies to certain person if he misunderstood my pervious comment]
