Red and White Coaches Sandgate had a Bova when the Company was owned by the Larsen Family. Would any one put a pic of this coach and its history, thank you.

In the 80's Hornibrook had a Moonraker which took Kedron High to the snow I believe it went to Rod Selwyn? Does any one have a pic or know its history? Thank you.

The Bova at Red & White was obviously originally from the Greyhound/Pioneer/Bus Australia, family bustup.
It was bought at the Greyhound auction in a severly dismantled state by Stan Biega, who made it into a great looker.
Somewhere i have the details of it i did for rego.
It was with Red & White for a while then i believe it went to Adams along with the Deacons Bova, i believe neither made it to WA without the love and attention Bova's require frequently.
Who bleedin thanked me? I was just doin my job

The two Freighter bodied "Moonrakers" that "Eagle" refers to are most likely the ones that came from McCafferty's Toowoomba (ex Fleet No 22) and Peters of Oakey respectively. Both were originally fitted with Hino Motors, I think that the ex McCafferty one was repowered with a GM sometime after they had sold it. The Peter's one had a V8 Hino, it also would have repowered with a GM after Doug Peters had sold it.

Both the above were a three axle vehicle and should not be confused with McCafferty fleet number 18 which was a single axle Moonraker Body type Hino which went to Victoria somewhere.

My memory fades me and I will stand corrected if necessary, but Blackstone Busways at Ipswich also operated a three axle Freighter "Moonraker" with a GM and this may have possibly been the ex Mc Cafferty one, as Blackstone also purchased the Hedges Bodied McCafferty No 25 (also a single axle rear engined Hino).

Hi,

No these weren't ex McCafferty's at all. There were two, numbered (77) and (83) which came from Anderson's Bus Lines in Cobram, VIC and Sinclair's Bus Service, Murrumbeena, VIC respectively.

Both were Hino RC320P chassis and both passed to Selwin's Coach Tours of Strathpine during May 1989.

I have photos of said coaches but they aren't mine so I don't really wanna post them.

yes the 2 red and whites were GM powered.

I had forgotten about the Blackstone GM'S.

Gee it seems like yesterday that every June/July school holidays in the 80's there was a line up of GM'S at Smiggins Holes Coach car park mostly from Queensland, the Red & White's, Sunshine Coast Coaches and Blackstone.

Now it's mostly european motors on mostly imported bodies and very few Queensland operators.

Rod Sellin operating out of Brendale Qld., was who bought the Moonrakers from Hornibrook, they were sold one to Bluey Evans and the other to an operator at Holmead Rd., Eight Mile Plains at Brisbane, Australian Pleasure Tours, from memory.
I have attached pictures of various coaches mentioned above.
