A great recipe for grief to drivers from irate passengers who won't accept what they didn't read on the destos and are impossible to appease. I know from experience. :!:
Unapologetically hate attention seeking bus pax.

Alpha-numerics, different route numbers, using LOUD WRITING on the desto won't make an ounce of difference if you're dealing with what I describe as "migratory passengers" that take whatever bus shows up first, or whichever will leave soonest

Speaking as a passenger, short workings, or any other variation to long-established route number / destination combinations, should have a unique route number. As an aside, can the practice cited in the above pix be attributed to privatisation?

I think the Melbourne (tram) system of using an alphabetic suffix to indicate a short working is better than multiple numbers.

A few years ago, the 343 had no less than 7 numbers along the route.
