Dynamic (?) bus departure sign

Post by lunchbox »

Park Street, Sydney. Seems to work well, but I hope it's more reliable than some of the 'phone apps. Obviously powered from the pole-top solar panel.

TfL in London has had e-ink technology for ages! Time for Australia to catch up.

It will probably work off the same data feed as the apps, so equivalent reliability?

Australia caught up some time ago - even including an audio rendition for the sight-impaired:

At 5pm on Sunday 28.10.18 the rolling screen on the experimental Park St. bus stop sign had ceased to "roll". It indicated "M52 due now" and the next service was not due for another 20 minutes. It didn't make sense at 5pm on a Sunday. Then I noticed the "clock" line - It said "00.24". The rolling screen had stopped rolling at 00.24 Sunday morning, but there was nothing to alert the waiting passengers that it had malfunctioned.
