Interline Daewoo King Longs
Random but carefully photographed snapshots of the new-build Daewoo BS120SN / King Long 6122s from Region 2 operator Interline Bus Services over three different days.
The bodywork design definitely exhibits the Chinese look...

Ugly front, but overall doesn't look too bad.

Either the logos are awaiting delivery and sticking on or they just can't be bothered.

Apart from the single-leaf centre door, I actually don't mind the look of this bus. Simple lines and an overall un-complicated design, something that seems to have been lacking in recent times. And a return to more rounded roofs and rear corners! Now, if only they could incorporate a rear window...

Looks rather bland IMHO. Lacks all the fancy lights and surrounds that characterize modern Chinese buses.MO-busfan wrote:Random but carefully photographed snapshots of the new-build Daewoo BS120SN / King Long 6122s from Region 2 operator Interline Bus Services over three different days.

Well whether you like it or not, unfortunately this may well be the face of city buses in Australia over the next few years - you cannnot escape it given the state of the Australian Bus Body Building industry, cost of purchase and delivery times.
I have nothing against the supplier as they delivered an accredited product to the market place and hope that it will meet all it's expectations and keeps performing for many years into the future.Time will tell if more operators jump on board or not with this brand.

Re: Interline Daewoo King Longs
They are quite comfortable to be a passenger in. Comparing them to memories of the tour they seem to have less engine noise and vibration than the CB80 bodied units.
There's a few surprising design issues. First, the centre door mechanism is pretty well exposed - not sure if it's in easy reach of the seat behind the door though. Second, there's no "modesty" panels between the flip up wheelchair seats and the first row of forward facing seats; I'm sure these started being fitted by local body makers after some nasty injuries where pax have been thrown forward out of these seats during accidents. I seem to remember a story of an Action passenger going face-first into the ticket machine after a crash or panic stop on one of the Parkways.
They're better built than I expected, and while they look a little cheap internally in places, I doubt that regular (non-gunzel) pax will see these as "cheapies". Now to see how long they last before rattles or problems start - at least most roads around region 2 routes are pretty smooth by Sydney standards.

Re: Interline Daewoo King Longs
The King Longs actually look quite stunning... They look great with the white Mobitec displays and also in my opinion have a better sense of styling than the VST design we've gotten used to for 10 years.
Re: Interline Daewoo King Longs
Ive been on the King Longs only once and they are some nice machines. The bus has a smooth Allison Gearbox and the bus doesn't rattle like the CB80's. Also said before by Bovways there is no Wheelchair back support, crash pad or what ever you want to call it between the first wheelchair seat and the luggage area. Also another negative on one of the buses where it had a very loud front door when opening and closing. Other than that the King Longs are a very nice bus.
Thanks

Re: Interline Daewoo King Longs
The red-n-green "give way to bus" graphic on the back gets ever more useless. It's so far above the following driver's line of sight it might just as well be on the roof! Who's responsible for safety and compliance here? And is the graphic getting smaller?

Lunchbox whether its a heavy or car driver if they are paying attention you should see and if everyone should know you have to give way to buses .the King long are a lot better and don't rattle as much as local produced buses try driving one to feel the better different apart from the fact you can buy two for the same price as you pay for one local.

Had a good chance to look around a few of these during a lunch break at work today.
Reasonable finish and good presentation but the flaws in the fibreglass finish are quite noticeable.

Like the DO NOT OVERTAKE TURNING VEHICLE sign, it doesn't matter how big it is, or where its is placed, 5% of motorists are going to ignore it through ignorance or inattentiveness, and come to grief.ozzipic2013 wrote:Lunchbox whether its a heavy or car driver if they are paying attention you should see and if everyone should know you have to give way to buses .the King long are a lot better and don't rattle as much as local produced buses try driving one to feel the better different apart from the fact you can buy two for the same price as you pay for one local.
