Merc. Mk I 1766
I found this brand spanking pic of class leader 1766 at the depot, don't know who took it, looks like maybe a promo shot of some sort, as the guy at the wheel is in a business shirt and tie and no number plate as yet...??
Re: Merc. Mk I 1766
Good picture of a brand new 1766 there. It would of been interesting to see where the photo of 1766 was taken at most probably near Revesby.

Re: Merc. Mk I 1766
It was a photo from a (PTC ?) promotional brochure and was taken near PMC at Revesby before 1766 was registered and delivered to the PTC.
At that time route 383 was an express service to and from South Bondi (Fletcher St) to Martin Place City, so they "sort of" got the destos close. The 383 was operated by Randwick Depot where 1766 was soon to be delivered.

383 or 384? I thought the 384 operated express from there... or was that from Nth Bondi?AEC Decker wrote:At that time route 383 was an express service to and from South Bondi (Fletcher St) to Martin Place City, so they "sort of" got the destos close. Re: Merc. Mk I 1766
The 383 commenced in 1959 when the trams were still running (along with a 377 from Waverley Cemetery) and were probably the first proper express bus services in Sydney. Both followed the tram lines along Oxford St to Martin Place.
The 384 ran from North Bondi, and was the express version of the 388, via Curlewis St, Bellevue Hill School, Edgecliff Rd and Kings Cross.

ATM, AEC Decker has no idea where it is, otherwise he would scan it and post it on the ATDB for all to enjoy.Lewis G. wrote:You know if I had some rare brouchure sitting around that was related to a thread on ATDB I would probably scan it and share it for all to enjoy....
Maybe leopard1543 can dig his copy out and post it on the ATDB for all to enjoy.

If you could see the state of my 'bus room' you would know why it could take some time to find this. But I will try to locate it, scan it and post it for all to see.AEC Decker wrote:ATM, AEC Decker has no idea where it is, otherwise he would scan it and post it on the ATDB for all to enjoy.Lewis G. wrote:You know if I had some rare brouchure sitting around that was related to a thread on ATDB I would probably scan it and share it for all to enjoy....

Wow nice scan.To think the 0305 has been present in Sydney since 1977!
If I travelled back in time to that year,I would be amazed to hear that distinctive Mercedes sound in a Sydney streetscape still full of Green and custard ERTs .
