Getting ready for the double deckers?

I was under the impression the first two prototypes were meant to be imported built up...

Seems like they will have Kiwibus body instead of Enviro 500 body from ADL, unless ADL designing a narrow version of Enviro 500 body for New Zealand and Australian market

That would be amazing, be nice to have some in Wellington too! guess the tunnels rule them out

Having buses specially built to a non-standard width must be incredibly expensive, It would surely be cheaper and easier to relax the width limit, if only for specific routes. It's only 5cm after all. I doubt if anyone would notice the difference.

I hv been told the part that makes the chassis overwidth is the panel on the wheelarches

Wellington have a few Double Deckers running on Sightseeing services & I believe they haven't had any issues with the Trolley wires.. So i say Bring on the Deckers...

They did (all sold off a few years ago), however they were severely restricted on where they could go (not allowed through any Tunnels, or up to Kingston, Northern suburbs etc).

Wellington have a few Double Deckers running on Sightseeing services & I believe they haven't had any issues with the Trolley wires.. So i say Bring on the Deckers...

I think is too early to talk about the buses getting bodied at this stage

Also, back in 5-10 years ago, Citybus in Hong Kong was planned to ship the world first air cond double deck trolleybus to Wellington after the project was objected by the authorities in Hong Kong, but it didn't happen (At the same time was also planned to ship some 12m double decker buses from Hong Kong for the Shore)

Also, back in 5-10 years ago, Citybus in Hong Kong was planned to ship the world first air cond double deck trolleybus to Wellington after the project was objected by the authorities in Hong Kong, but it didn't happen (At the same time was also planned to ship some 12m double decker buses from Hong Kong for the Shore)

There were many "plans" back then by the NZ Stagecoach Company ....but times seem to have changed ......and the thoughts of having Double Deckers is now clearly acceptable to NZ Land Transport and Operators.

Lets hope that soon, the restrictive "axle weight limits" still imposed by NZLT will also be upgraded and allow what the rest of the world accepts and Tag Axles will become less common on shorter vehicles..

Yeah it has been through town and down Dominion Rd as well.

Don't forget out Deckers will be low floor downstairs, whereas an SL202 obviously isn't, so that would reduce the overall height somewhat.
