Maui Gas disruption

Post by Vitalstatistix »

Due to the major gas leak which supplies the entire upper North Island with gas, 24 of Go Buses CNG buses are finding it difficult to get gas. I will update on buses running when I go out today.

All the newer CNG buses still appear to be in service, however 81 - 88 as well as 70 and 73 (all the older low floor CNG's) were not in interpeak services.

From 12pm today a number of gas buses ran dry and Go Bus 408 MAN 11.190, now a dedicated school bus was drafted into service on route 05 Chartwell. The signal cords had been removed and passengers had to hail the driver rather loudly for the bus to stop. From then on a second high floor was brought in to cover another gassie. Go Bus 415 MAN 15.230 was seen on the 02 Silverdale from early afternoon on wards. Route 13 University and 16 Rototuna which are usually CNG only routes have been running with diesel buses since Thursday. Lets hope the gas comes fully online by Monday as I don't think the CNG fleet will be able to last much longer. I'll be surprised to see any CNG buses out tomorrow and Sunday.
