PTV: Route 833 to Carrum

Postby Craig » Fri May 26, 2017 4:35 pm

Finally Carrum Downs residents won't have to backtrack to Kananook or Frankston to commute into the CBD...

PTV wrote:Route 833 extended to Carrum Station

From Sunday 27 August 2017, Route 833 will be extended to run from Frankston Station to Carrum Station via Cadles Road.

All Route 833 services will coordinate with peak train services at Carrum Station providing Carrum Downs and Sandhurst residents with a reliable connection to their nearest train station.

The extended route will also provide access to Lakeview Shopping Centre, several schools and community facilities along its new path.

Route 833 will continue to operate at a 30 minute frequency throughout the week and every 60 minutes on weekends. The span of hours Route 833 operates remain unchanged.

The new bus timetable will be available on the PTV website from 27 July.

For more information call us on 1800 800 007.

With thanks to Bradley for his tip-off.

Kind Regards

Craig :-)

That should have been done 20 years ago when that estate was developed,Craig.
I suspect the horse may have bolted on this one.I am not sure a 30 minute frequency will do the trick to entice the car drivers out of their cars, but at least its a positive change.Hopefully it may lift patronage.

Hopefully it will split the intervals between the 708s between Carrum and Lakeview.

Speaking with a Ventura Frankston driver, he suggest the change is also to compensate for the numerous shutdowns to occur between Carrum and frankston over the the coming years to allow for level crossing removals and the frankston station upgrade and hopefully reduce passenger numbers on that corridor.

Every 60 minutes on weekends, just perfect for suburbia!

Personally I think The Pines should have a "Donald Trump" style concrete wall build around its perimeter and the residents be prevented from ever entering the civilized society that surrounds it. Once the wall is complete I would cut off the Centrelink benefits for all the residents within the fenced area.

By locking the residents of The Pines behind a concrete wall, you would see an almost instant 80% drop in crime around the general Frankston/Seaford area.

I see more crime reports in the media involving a certain suburb between Springvale and Dandenong and it's local residents. Would you be just as supportive if someone proposed the same thing for that suburb?

Nope. Because your comment is almost certainly lacking in any factual basis and you are merely just trying to wind me up.

New 833 Timetable online (Starting August 27th)
https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/route/view/11591

One thing to note with the new timetable 832/833 to Frankston are no longer offset by 15 minutes instead there is 4 minute gap followed by a 26 minute gap!

On the other hand, by fluke or otherwise, the off-peak and weekend off-sets with 708 along McLeod Rd are decent and sure to be appreciated by Patterson Lakes locals.

Kind Regards

Perhaps one way to improve the service to Skye and Carrum Downs is to take the deviations through the Pines Estate off the 832 and 832 and create a dedicated Frankston-Pines Estate shuttle. That would save some time off the journey time from Carrum Downs and Skye, and maybe improve the amenity of the bus trips !!!
