Bus theft

Post by Roderick Smith »

I wonder what sort of bus: route bus from an operator, or minibus?

Roderick.

January 29 2017 Teens stole bus during western suburbs crime spree: police An alleged teenage crime spree in a stolen bus came to an end after a short police chase through Melbourne's western suburbs.
Four teenagers, a boy and three girls, were pulled from the bus and arrested on Friday night following the one-day crime spree, police said.

The vehicle, a smaller-sized bus owned by a private company, had been reported stolen on Friday at 1am from a West Footscray depot.
The teens on the bus were then spotted in western suburbs before police finally caught up with them.
"They have allegedly stolen a number of items from the Williamstown and Laverton North areas," police spokeswoman Amelia Penhall said.
"The bus was later involved in a short pursuit before police intercepted the vehicle."
A 16-year-old boy, from West Footscray, is facing a number of charges, including the bus theft, theft from a motor vehicle, shop theft and handling stolen goods.
He'll appear in a children's court at a later date.
Three girls, aged 14 and 15, are expected to be charged on summons for shop theft and handling stolen goods.
The girls lived in Yarraville, North Melbourne and Williamstown.

Another report mentioned Sunshine Road so presumably it was from the Sita yard.

If it was stolen from the SITA yard, its a 250 meter walk around all the yard to the back corner to get into one of the mini buses, plus they would have to walk past the re fuellers station [2 blokes manning that fuel station], drive around the whole depot and out the gates which the overnight mechanics work next too.

If they did this, mind you seeing anyone walking around with no vests, 3 girls and a 16 year old boy, wow it would have been like the movie "GONE IN 60 SECONDS", the chase wouldn't have hit any sort of high speeds if it was one of the non turbo coasters!

I would be very surprised, I've heard nothing about it.

If it was reported as stolen at 1am then I doubt too many staff would have been in the yard or even on duty at that hour.

At 1am, the duty manager, workshop staff, washer, and one or two refuellers are waiting or working most definitely.

Might not have even necessarily been a Sita bus. There's also that premesis a little bit further west on Sunshine Rd that has a Hillsong Church bus parked in the front yard.
