Transdev Melbourne News 2017

Post by a350a380 »

There is only 1 MK2s still running and is based out of Fitzroy
I seem to remember someone saying they would be gone by the end of the year (2016). Well for those interested 298 has made it to 2017. Saw it in service on route 251 today. Took a ride up to Northland SC. The air conditioning was blowing ice cold (well one side anyway) rather this than a bubble bus or a cb30! Sounded great but left some small deposits of oil at Northland where it had been sitting for 10 mins.

I should imagine it will last a while longer yet, until either it fails majorly or new vehicles get delivered, whichever happens first. Anyone know if any new vehicles have been ordered?

Mk2 298 will be on the road all day today. 10am - 8pm.
Being a Saturday, it's a rare thing.

Is anyway to find out what Route MAN mk II is running on a particular day? Realy want to get a few photos before it is taken out of service. I saw the above post too late. I assume 298 was again running on route 251?

Its not on same shift each day. Best way find is to wait at Queen St & Lonsdale in AM or PM peak.

It was on 234, 236, 235, 250 and 251 today.
Some great photos were taken throughout the day. (Not by me) I'm told they should appear some time soon.

First time I've heard of a high floor being out on National routes on a weekend since around 2005!

Great photos. Wish 298 didn't have that vinyl wrap livery. Looks like I'll have to go hang out up Queen and Lonsdale and wait for it to come through during weekday peaks. Would the Fitzroy Transdev Depot be able to advise on what route MAN mk II 298 will run on?
Also I hear the other remaning Mk II's are now stored at Doncaster?

Sighted bus 924 departing Westfield Doncaster yesterday on a 279 to Box Hill missing the entire N/S rear corner/bumper body panel.

I'm a bit late to the party, but lower case letters on a MK2 desto? I remember the B2 trams had small caps before they got the Hanover units, but I've never seen lower case on those.

It's exactly the same desto unit as the one used in the B2 originally.

Spotted newbie #800 (Mercedes Benz O405NH/Volgren CR221L, ex. DarwinBus) at the back corner of the North Fitzroy depot, which backs onto Scotchmer Street.

Noticed that is it numbered as 380800 and says "Shuttle" on the desto.

Also noticed that 294 (in the foreground) has a fluoro yellow "Do Not Operate" tag over the dashboard.

Transdev was boasting on their Facebook page that they cleaned graffiti off 35 buses at their Sunshine depot on Sunday.
