May be time (beyond time by a long shot, some would say) for some of Ventura's local routes run out of South Oakleigh to be revised.

They are totally out of whack with current traffic and demographic circumstances.... simply impossible to fulfil, in many cases.

Route 465 is to get a couple of extre services in the PM. peak. But the link just shows the old T/Table and the times do not match the altered times for Route 467. mainly the last few trips.

My understanding is the changes at Westrans Werribee & Westrans Altona commence the previous week, Monday 2 May 2011. It appears the wrong date has been entered for the new 436 timetable.

Of the changes for the above Westrans Werribee routes, most notable is the 9pm Sunday evening trip from Werribee to Hoppers Crossing on 436 will be discontinued, bringing the finish time in line with Saturdays.

More substantial changes for other routes will be available soon.

Thanks for posting :)

New timetables for the 413 and 416 are now up. I see the 413 will now run past 6pm, which is an improvement. It was always a joke that the last 413 departed before 6pm on a weeknight.

None of the other routes listed above have timetables up yet, however the new route map for the extended 448 is now online.

Some interesting changes for Craigieburn: http://www.broadmeadowsbus.com.au/news.shtml

Route 544 being truncated to Roxburgh Park makes me wonder whether it'll no longer be shared between Broadmeadows and Dysons, since it'll require one less bus. Hmm... :?

(Also, any bets on how long before it gets joined to the 542?)

Maybe Broady Bus will run a 30 min service & Dysons will also run a 30 min service and link it to the 542, that would give a 15 min service to connect with the 901. :D

Cheers

Good on Cranbourne Transit for updating the timetable for this route so it actually lives up the name 'TrainLink' again. The June 2010/October 2010 Metro timetable change significantly altered departure and arrival times at Cranbourne so the 896 connections were lost.

Commencing Sunday 8th May, 2011, Route 561 will begin it's new route- Coburg to Macleod via Reservoir.

Departing from Coburg, the route will operate via Champ Street, Murray Road, Newlands Road, Edwards Street (ie. the SAME streets as Route 525), Reservoir Station, Broadway, Bolderwood Parade, Dunne Street and along it's current route to Macleod and Dunvegan Estate.

Route 561 will no longer service Dunolly Cresent, Strathmerton Street, Royal Parade, Carrol Street, Cheddar Road East, Marchant Avenue and Evans Street. Residents of East Reservoir will continue to have access to public transport with Route 552 and 556 travelling through nearby local streets.

Services will operate 7-days per week till at least 9pm.
Monday - Friday- every 20 mins. as per current service levels
Weekends- every 40 mins.

Details of the above revealed in: "Moreland and Darebin bus services changes from Sunday 8 May" brochure- released by Department of Transport.

Route 525 will cease to operate from this date, with it's last trip operating on Friday 6th May, 2011.

New timetables are not available on Metlink at the time of posting.

A new timetable for Route 504 Moonee Ponds to Clifton Hills beings Sunday 8th May, with this route now running to minimum standards, 7 days.

Whilst such changes would be welcome... I don't know about the Saturday service, which is now running to a 40 min. frequency, as opposed to the current 30 mins.

Sundays services run every 40 mins. Details at:

The new 561 timetable (which commences Sunday 8th May, 2011), is now available on Metlink.

See link below:

Interesting to note that although the route runs to minimum standards, it is mentioned that there are no public holiday services... although one assumes that the current Labour and Cup Day services will remain (hence the little number 1 in the Saturday header part of the timetable).

544 will be operated soley by Broadmeadows from 8 May 2011, with Dysons resource being reallocated to 504. Looks like you lost that bet.

I note that the Sunday service on 544 is being upgraded to half hourly.

The new 505 (Moonee Ponds - Melbourne University via Parkville Gardens) timetable is now online, to be operated by Dysons - http://www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au/route/view/5456

Service commences on Sunday 8 May 2011.

Operates to a simple hourly minimum standards level (inculding public holidays). Not likely to entice many people in Parkville Gardens at all, a very token effort indeed.

But at least looks like some consideration has been put in designing the weekend timetable around train connections at Royal Park.

Notable that running times have been adjusted to reflect reality, and are no longer a tight 30 minutes end-to-end. On weekdays, buses are now allowed 40 minutes, while weekends 35 minutes is allowed.

Although this sees a drop in service on Saturday mornings to every 40 minutes, the Saturday afternoon frequency will be boosted from 60 minutes to 40 minutes, and new Sunday & evening services introduced. An overall win, especially when combined with more reliable services on weekdays.

The new 561 timetable (which commences Sunday 8th May, 2011), is now available on Metlink.
The other interesting things about the change are that the quirky deviation done by the first bus now applies to the first two buses. Whilst there is presently no time shown in LaTrobe University for the deviated service, the new timetable shows times for LaTrobe Uni. Presumably this means that any extra time taken by the deviation was created at present by going directly along Kingsbury Drive, presumably that will no longer be the case given there is also 10 minutes extra time to do the trip including deviation. Can anyone tell me why the bus deviates this way and why there is no corresponding return trip?

Also of note is the earlier first bus from the Reservoir end and slightly later last bus from Reservoir. Also the last bus being a short working to LaTrobe Uni only. Times from Macleod are roughly the same as before. There is also an extra 5 or so minutes allowed on each trip between Macleod and Reservoir compared to the previous timetable, as well as the more direct route, which should help with on time running and possibly even a slightly less enthusiastic approach to driving on this route...

A curious quirk is also the fact that in the past, Sunday services have often had roughly the same times on the weekend with a later start on Sunday, in this instance the 40 minute timetable is offset!

Lastly it is interesting that the last buses arriving at the ends run back to Reservoir empty rather than forming short workings, although admittedly the last weekday service to Macleod does that now.
it is mentioned that there are no public holiday services... although one assumes that the current Labour and Cup Day services will remain (hence the little number 1 in the Saturday header part of the timetable).
Especially given the previous online timetable states a Sunday timetable operates on all public holidays...

Overall a welcome improvement to the network, although it might have been better to have done the proposed switch between the 552 and 561 route at the same time so those no longer served by the 561 on the Marchant / Royal / Strathmerton part of the route didn't lose their service, as well as making the 552 more direct. Sure it's not far to walk to an alternative but given the number of public huosing properties near the route and the demographics of the area, it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect a higher proportion of elderly and possibly disabled who would find the loss of service disproportionately harder. I hope DoT has done it's research on this part of the change.

Hopefully we may see soon(ish) the proposed extension to Greensborough, then this route will really fulfil it's potential.

In addition to Bradley's pick-up, I have discovered some serious errors with the new booklet timetables for Westrans Werribee

Routes 436/437/446
  • Pages 31 - 32: Old 437 Sunday timetable shown, not the new ones. Buses run up to 11 minutes earlier than shown.
  • Pages 37 - 38: Booklet timetable shows the 17:02, 17:42 & 18:22 trips operating via the Sneydes Rd deviation to serve the State Chemistry Laboratory, but the online timetable shows the 15:42, 16:22, 17:02 & 17:42 trips operating this deviation instead. :? Not very good if you rely on this deviation...
  • Pages 41 - 48: Old 446 weekend timetables are shown, not the new times. Many departures are now several minutes later, account of the reduction of travel times by around 13 minutes
Routes 442/444/445/446
  • Pages 10 - 14: Old 442 weekend timetables are shown, not the new times. Buses towards Hoppers Crossing operate up to 12 minutes earlier than the times shown
  • Page 32: Booklet timetable shows first Saturday bus commencing at Thames Bvd at 07:38, while website shows bus commencing at the next timepoint, Hogans Rd at 07:43
  • Pages 37 - 38: Booklet timetable shows the 17:02, 17:42 & 18:22 trips operating via the Sneydes Rd deviation to serve the State Chemistry Laboratory, but the online timetable shows the 15:42, 16:22, 17:02 & 17:42 trips operating this deviation instead. :? Not very good if you rely on this deviation...
  • Pages 41 - 48: Old 446 weekend timetables are shown, not the new times. Many departures are now several minutes later, account of the reduction of travel times by around 13 minutes
Routes 447/448/449
  • Pages 34 - 37: Not a huge issue, but weekend times (in both directions) at Wyndham Vale Square SC differ by one minute between the booklet and online timetables.
I could also comment on the dodgy artwork on the network map for the 449 extension to Wyndham Vale Square SC, including a spelling mistake; as well as noting the 446 route map still has the street names of the temporary deviation, but the streets aren't drawn on the map anymore!

One would hope these booklets were signed off by CDC, but clearly weren't thoroughly checked!

EDIT: Added 437 error

Kind Regards

The only changes so far with the 411/412 timetable are the last two departures from Laverton to Westona.
The old departure times were 2019 and 2100, however, as of today (2/5) the new times are 2030 and 2110...

And guess what??? No Timetables... Management were not even aware of the changes.
