Tasmanian Bus Observations - JAN > JUN 2015
Well, 2015 is upon us. There ARE new buses in the pipelines at different operators - Metro 11 x 2nd hand + 1 new, Phoenix 2 x 2nd hand, Redline 2 x new BLK ARTICS and there has been a new Yutong floating around Hobart we haven't been able to identify yet. As things occur, we'll let you know, likewise upcoming TBCS events.
Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations - JAN > JUN 2015
Hang on a minute.... Metro are buying second hand buses!??? As in 2 or 3 years old or are we talking more run down older buses?

They are reportedly getting the batch of Scanias from the Melb airport long term car park shuttle, once the replacements arrive.

With the fleet commonality with the Scania's from Melbourne present at Metro, it would appear that these "reported" acquisitions would come as strategic on the part of Metro. However I would suspect that some conversion work would have to take place before they enter Metro service.1whoknows wrote:They are reportedly getting the batch of Scanias from the Melb airport long term car park shuttle, once the replacements arrive.

danielb - Melbourne long-term parking's FLEET, 9 x 2006 L94s + 2 x 2009 K230s. They are replacing with K280/Express, but until their NEW vehicles arrive, Metro's will be a while coming. (I believe April)
YES phoenix, from what Victorians enthusiasts tell me, the buses are only 29 seats, so the luggage racks will need to be removed and interiors refurbished before entering service. Refurbishment will be done by Metro themselves.

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations - JAN > JUN 2015
Work required on them will include replacement of luggage racks with additional seating and replacement or at least recovering of the existing seats which are truly threadbare. I'd have thought it would be logical for Volgren to do this then metro can do the customising stuff for ticket machines, desto etc. It will probably be a close run thing as to whether any have hit the road in time for the 2015 Tassie tour in April.

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations - JAN > JUN 2015
Metro #314 which has had an AOA for 7HO/FM for quite a few years, is now "bare" having the AOA removed. Remaining buses still in AOA include: 225 (L'ton) TigerBus - 303 Quadrant Super - 305 Quadrant Super - 306 Quadrant Super - 316 (L'ton) Tonic - 334 ICC World Cup. If I've missed any, yoda will correct me
Tasmania's Own Redline, have taken delivery of (2) BLK articulated buses that will operate between Mole Creek / Deloraine > Launceston (replaced (3) buses)
Buses were being housed at Panorama Coaches in Melbourne just after Xmas, where they were spotted / photographed by APOLLO who alerted moi

TBCS NEWS: Sunday 18th Jan - Cresswell Coaches mini-tour. This is the postponed tour from Oct 2014 and will depart (AS USUAL) from HQ @ 11:45am. We will visit Cresswell's West Hobart Depot which will house MOST of their fleet. Unfortunately (for us) there is a cruise ship in tomorrow, so #2 MB/Starliner & #3 MB/Volgren will be operating on there. For those that haven't seen our "new" premises, it will give you the chance to see where we've moved to and the room we have, along with progress on #747 - #200 & #134. Return time will be approx. 3pm
